A woman from Somalia accepted Christ after reading the Bible for the first time. Reading God’s Word touched her heart, and she couldn’t believe all her questions about life’s mysteries were answered in the Bible.

As a little girl, Shamso knew deep inside her heart that God existed. She was curious and wanted to know about her Creator growing up. However, as a woman, her religion didn’t allow her to know Him.

“How could God create me and hate me at the same time?” she wondered back then.
Shamso also feared going to hell as a little child. She had many questions, but her religion couldn’t give her answers. As a result, she grew up fearing darkness, and often, she couldn’t sleep well at night.
In Islam, demons are called “jinn” or “genies.” And Shamso constantly feared them because she felt like they were always following her around. At times, she would have tormenting experiences with them.
Reading The Bible For The First Time
Later, in college, Shamso took classes at night and slept during the day because of her fear of darkness. She then met her now husband, with whom she had deep conversations about God with. Shamso planned to convert her boyfriend to Islam, but he was so firm about his Christian faith.
Soon, Shamso got married with him. A time came when she had a very heavy burden; she couldn’t take it anymore. She broke down. She was at her lowest point, crying and sobbing when she remembered what her husband told her. Apparently, he advised Shamso to read the Bible.
At first, Shamso resisted to protect her religion. But she eventually gave in and read the Bible for the first time. She read the book of Genesis, and it deeply broke her.
“When I read that, I was so touched by those words,” she recalled in tears. “I just couldn’t believe those were the words that I was reading. And as I’m reading the stories in the Bible, I see Jesus giving His disciple the power and the authority to cast out demons, in the Name of Jesus.”
Shamso accepted Jesus that night. And she found peace and joy since that day.
