“Why did Jesus have to die?” is the question that changed a drug addict’s life forever.

Kristin Schweiger grew up knowing a lot about Jesus because of her Christian stepmother. However, everything changed when her unbelieving childhood friend instilled doubts in her mind during 8th grade. Later on, she began to perceive God as someone who takes away the fun in her life.
“My parents were pretty strict. They were super loving and they did the best that they could, I just felt that they were just imposing rules on my life and trying to take away my fun. Now, I started to believe that God was the same way. I decided I was going to live life my way for my happiness because I was missing out. I will deal with God on my deathbed.”
Sinful life
She engaged in sexual relationships with different boys, partying, and drinking alcohol until she got exposed and addicted to various drugs. After months of living a sinful lifestyle, she came to the realization that she was feeling empty.
“I was living the life that the world promised me happiness and fulfillment. I was making tons of money, and going to the hottest parties, and by the end of being in that environment for one year, by the end of year, I realized that it was empty.”

“Why did Jesus have to die?”
Wanting to make her life right again, she returned to her hometown in Colorado, where her brother and sister-in-law reintroduced Jesus to Kristin.
“My older brother and his wife started pursuing me with the love of God. I asked them, ‘Why did Jesus have to die?’ And it was in that moment I realized that He did that for me.”
That simple question made her realize the amazing love of Jesus and prompted her to surrender her life to Jesus.
“God take my life. It belongs to you. It’s yours,” she said to Jesus that very same day.
Kristin’s testimony tells us that no one is too far from the grace and love of God. Regardless of what you’ve done in the past, the Lord will still be excited to welcome you into His arms again if you’d just let Him be your Savior.
