Pastor Vlad Savchuk shared another nuggets of wisdom about “how to overcome food addiction.” His insights might be helpful to some Christians.
How To Overcome Food Addiction
Food is one of the basic necessities for humans. God created man to have that need, which is why He never fails to provide. However, nowadays, some people have romanticized the need for food. People have become creative in discovering various types of food, sometimes compromising the impact on health. This can lead to illnesses, which is not beneficial for individuals.
Vlad remarked in his post that “there are no shortcuts to good health.” To address the addiction to food problems, he shared some advice with Christians to overcome the struggle. He recommended moving from “I can’t” to “all in,” encouraging individuals to give 100 percent effort to succeed in overcoming the stronghold of food, similar to pursuing goals.
No Compromise
Another suggestion that Pastor Vlad highlighted was “The Esau Mentality.” He referenced Genesis 25:33 where “Esau sold Jacob his birthright for a stew bowl.” He used this story as an example of not trading a healthy body for “hamburgers and cookies” that are unhealthy.
Furthermore, Pastor Vlad quoted Song of Solomon 2:15, emphasizing, “little foxes spoil the vines.” He emphasized not settling for even small compromises, even if it concerned food. It may appear to be more harmless than other sins like immorality, porn, or sex outside marriage. But in reality, it will still affect and destroy one’s pursuit of holiness.
“A little Oreo Cookie here, a Snickers Bar there, will ruin your clean, pure, healthy temple of the Holy Spirit,” he wrote.
Just like illegal drugs, food addiction works in the same way. Excessive consumption can lead to destructive consequences in one’s life, particularly when health is compromised.
May every believer find this insightful wisdom from Pastor Vlad helpful.
