A powerful testimony from a woman named Kaleigh, transitioning from a life of drug and alcohol addiction to freedom in Christ, has deeply inspired many that it went viral.
Kaleigh’s Viral Testimony
In a post by Kara Lewis, Kaleigh bravely shared her life story. Kara recounted feeling drawn to the woman while watching her children play. Approaching her, Kara initiated a conversation, and despite being a stranger, Kaleigh graciously permitted Kara to record her.
Initially, Kara requested to take a photo of them as a family, to which Kaleigh agreed. Subsequently, Kaleigh willingly opened up and shared her journey with Kara, highlighting God’s goodness in her life.
Kaleigh’s memories as a child were marred by brokenness. She yearned for love and affection from her family which she rarely received. Consequently, she sought love and attention elsewhere. At 12, she started drinking alcohol and found comfort in it. Since then, it became her escape to fill the emptiness in her heart.
Redemption
For years, Kaleigh became an alcoholic. The only time she desperately wanted to change and be sober was when she got pregnant with her first child. At that point, the 19-year-old Kaleigh finally called her mom for help. They tried enrolling her in rehab but got kicked out each time. Despite this, her parents steadfastly supported her until she completed the rehabilitation program.

One day, Kaleigh’s dad got into a huge argument with her that led him to make poor choices and bad decisions. And then, he left them. But she remarked how God continued pursuing her father despite what happened.
As she continued sharing her story, Kaleigh asked permission from her son to talk about his father. Then, she said that her son’s father made bad decisions as well that led him in and out of prison. At that point, Kaleigh also became addicted to meth and she almost died due to overdose.
