Everyday, we face battles no one knows especially in our minds. Now if you’re struggling with negativity, you need to hear these five truths.
Battle Negativity
1. You failed, but you are not a failure.
At some point in your life, you may have failed. But that failure will never define who you are. Nobody gets excellent at one strike. No one is perfect either. So keep going and learn from those failures. Take it as an opportunity to grow because, in God, there is always hope.
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” -Isaiah 1:18
2. You are not your past.
You may have fallen short in the past, but it will never define who you are. Don’t let your past dictate who you are and what you can do. You are who God says you are, and bigger and greater are His plans for you. So, don’t listen to the lies of the enemy that keeps reminding you of your past. Instead, listen to God and stand upon that identity.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” -Isaiah 43:18-19
3. You are forgiven.
As you walk through your life journey, there will be circumstances that will remind you of your past mistakes. Especially that the hardest to forgive is yourself, so, if these lies creep into your thoughts, always remember that God has already forgiven you.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” -1 John 1:9
4. You are loved.
Sometimes our painful experiences in life will tell us we aren’t lovable. At worst, the enemy will whisper that no one loves you. But always remember that these are all just lies. If there is one thing that is constant in this world that never fails, it is God’s love. God loves you so much, and He always will.
“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” -Jeremiah 31:3
5. You are secured.
Too often, we anchor our identity on many things in this world. It could be from our family, status, relationships, career, or money. But in reality, none of this could ever define our identity because all these are fleeting. The only thing that will resound through eternity is our identity in God. If nothing is working out in your life right now, always remember Whose you are. You are God’s beloved, and in Him, you are secured.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” –1 John 3:1
Declare these truths to yourself whenever negativity creeps in. You can do this all by God’s grace.
