I have always been a person who trusted God in all situations…or at least I thought I did.
“Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:22) were my famous words. My family and friends knew me as a woman of faith. When I was a child I trusted God like a child. I believed each word He said and saw Him working in my life with the little things I entrusted to Him.
As I grew older logic, reasoning, and reality started kicking in. I would trust Him, but have room for “Plan B”. I forgot that in His word He said: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
What does trusting in the Lord really mean?
What happens when you ask for something, put a due date on it, and trust Him fully… and then it just doesn’t happen as you desire? Does it mean God is a liar? Does He not give us the desires of our hearts? Of course Not! Our God is a faithful God and He wants us to take Him for His word because His word is “yes” and “amen”. He is bound by His word. When He says it then it is done.
So how do we continue to trust Him when it’s not going according to our plan? Only one easy answer to that: Trust Him. I am now a woman and have seen God doing things for me, some of those things I never asked. I have learned the hard way because I found myself worrying and stressing about things that God had already solved.
Our Father wants us to completely put our lives in His hands.
He delivers when we trust Him fully, that is how faith operates. What this means is that, when you pray and believe God for an answer, He answers you. Sometimes He doesn’t give us the answers we expect, but perhaps something better than what we had in mind. “He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20) Above being the action word in this verse. When you trust God and say, “Your will be done”, just trust that His will is definitely for your good and better than what you have in mind.
When you pray and it doesn’t happen as you expected, that means you were asking for something less than what God has for you. Sometimes, you have to wait for that perfect time because He makes everything perfect in its time. He surely has heard your prayer and has answered you. You must wait and continue to trust that what He has for you is bigger.
How do you go on when the devil keeps on whispering to you things like: “Your God is not answering, your God doesn’t love you like He says, you have sinned therefore what do you expect from your God?” It’s easy. Keep saying: “My Lord Jesus, I have no idea what you are doing, but I trust You as You are, I know you have the best in store for me. I have no other place to go so I am taking You for Your word and I know You have my back.” After that keep on telling yourself that God has got it and all is well. He is really worthy of our trust.
