Christian singer and songwriter Tori Kelly reveals her journey with choosing Jesus in an industry filled with temptation.
Tori Kelly’s Christian Faith
Tori Kelly began rising to fame at 14 years old because of her YouTube videos. And when she became well-known, the singer never hid her Christian faith. Instead, she used her platform to remain grounded in Christ and glorify Him.

In an interview with Life Church’s “Switch”, Tori opened up about her journey living in an industry filled with temptations. She also shared about the moment when she truly experienced God herself, not just because she grew up in church.
“You kind of get to a point where your faith really becomes your own,” she said. “And it’s not about what your parents say or what they believe. But it’s really like, ‘No, this is real to me.’ I’ve really experienced the presence of God and I know that this is my own faith.”
Choosing Jesus In An Industry Filled With Temptation
As a celebrity, Tori often face temptation in the industry. For that reason, she had to decide to choose her faith and stay true to Christ every time.
“Jesus is number one,” she stressed. “There’s that conviction. Certain opportunities will come up and I’ll just have to say no.”

However, Tori highlights that the most challenging part about being in the industry is going “against the grain of the music industry.” The challenge with her job is to remain focused on “the One” and not all about her.
“My faith is everything to me,” the songwriter remarked.
Despite Tori’s success in her career, she keeps her eyes fixed on Jesus.
“I can’t rely on these accomplishments, these goals and these dreams, which are great and good things…,” she said. “But even good things can be idols.”
