Tom Selleck
The veteran actor Thomas William Selleck, popularly known by just Tom, is celebrating the year-end with generosity. Right before the year 2020 ended, he gave a huge tip to restaurant employees.
As the coronavirus pandemic greatly affected businesses, including restaurants, this year, people are stepping in with huge tips to help them somehow cope up. Big tips started to make headlines. Tom’s “Blue Bloods” co-actor Donnie Wahlberg was among those who made it on the news for his generous tip.
$2,020 tip
On November 7, 2020, Donnie left his waitress, Denise Andrews, a $2,020 tip on top of his $35.27 bill. Despite Donnie wanting to make his gesture a secret, the restaurant took to Instagram to express their gratitude. With his incredible generosity, he inspired his co-actor, Tom, to do the same.
Three days after the news broke out, Tom also left a $2,020 tip on top of his $204.68 bill after dining at a restaurant on the Upper East Side. Along with his tip, he also wrote a heartfelt note.
“I am honoring my friend Donnie Wahlberg’s ‘Tip Challenge’ with my sincere hope for a better 2020. Thank you all,” Tom wrote.
#2020TipChallenge
It turned out that there was this #2020TipChallenge that has been going around right before 2020 ended. The tip challenge was started in hopes to help people in need and the local business after having a hard time during the past year.
Donnie tweeted about Tom’s generous act and emphasized that he was not the one who started the challenge.
“I didn’t start it but I’m proud to be part of it,” Donnie wrote. “To those who gave even the smallest extra amount this year — THANK YOU. #spreadloveandlovewillspread”
I found out that my TV Dad #TomSelleck has generously accepted the #2020TipChallenge at Elios Upper East Side!
Love ya dad. ❤️
