For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12
1 Timothy 4:1-5 warns us that in latter times, some will abandon the faith to follow deceiving spirits and teachings from demons. These false teachings come from those with consciences “seared as with a hot iron”.
The Bible says that everything God created is good and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving. It is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
Though much of the world has fallen away, He does still promise us a better tomorrow. The Bible is clear, “have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”
That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
Endurance
1 Timothy 4:12-15 says not to let anyone look down on you because you are young, but to set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching, and not to neglect your gift. We must be diligent in these matters; give ourselves wholly to them, so that everyone may see our progress.
God has given me a greater capacity to endure these trials. After losing my husband in 2019, it was my choice to abstain from dating, commiting myself fully to the Lord. What doesn’t kill us, does make us stronger, and whatever my suffering has been, God’s grace is surmounting.
2 Timothy 4:18 teaches that the Lord will rescue us from every evil attack and will bring us safely to his heavenly kingdom. These are testaments that apply to each one of us.
As we’re all called to minister through our daily walk, whether we’re facing physical dangers, emotional struggles, or any other type of spiritual attack, believers can trust that God will rescue them from every evil that surrounds them.
Be Ready
1 Timothy 4:16 says to pay close attention to your life and to your teaching… “Persevere in these things, for by doing so, you will save both yourself and those who hear you.”
We should carefully consider what we are ministering to others in our words, actions and deeds. We need to be careful who we choose to follow and who may be influencing us, our thoughts, as well as our daily living.
It’s with thanksgiving that I recognize all that He has done for me. Though the race hasn’t been easy, it’s been fulfilling. He’s kept me through the hills and valleys. He’s made a way for me, when the world said there was no way.
All in all, it’s been a great adventure in this world. It’s been through repentance and letting go that I’ve, truly, found my peace in Christ. I’ve learned to appreciate all things, finding meaning and purpose in everything around me.
I’m thankful for the time He has given me, friends and family. Though I’ve wasted more time than I care to admit, I’m making up for it in time better spent.
Be glad for the time He has given you, spending it well with others, and always putting God first.🙌
