Luke Lefevre shared an interesting piece of trivia during one of his speaking engagements. He revealed the first person in the Bible who is mentioned as being filled with the Holy Spirit. Surprisingly, it was not a priest or a rabbi, but an artisan.

In his Instagram video, Creative Director Luke inspired his listeners by sharing a biblical insight about being an artist. He noted that the first person the Bible mentions as being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a priest, prophet, or rabbi, but an artist named Bezalel.
“Do you know who the first person the Bible mentions as being filled with the Holy Spirit? It’s not Adam. It’s not Noah,” he shared.

He continued, “It’s not Abraham. It’s not Moses. It’s not even Jesus.”
“It is a very specific person, and it’s important.”
The first person being filled with the Spirit
He then turned to Exodus 31:1-5 to support his point:
“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver, and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.'”
“The first person the Bible mentions as being filled with the Spirit is a creative—a maker. He was filled with the Spirit to CREATE!”
Luke continued, “God uses a human—fills him with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge—to create what is only in God’s mind.”
“It is someone God wants to make something with! And not just anything—He wants to create something that will hold His presence here on Earth.”
“We as Christian creatives must take this to heart: when we follow God’s creative pull on us to make something new in the world, that isn’t just work—that is Holy Work,” he concluded.
