The Chosen actress who played Mary Magdalene’s role, was once skeptical but now believes in the love of God.
Elizabeth Tabish
The 36-year-old Elizabeth Tabish recently told CBN’s Faithwire that her role in the biblical and historical drama series had a significant impact on how she understood Jesus. It was produced by Christian director Dallas Jenkins,
“Living with these scenes and living with the words of these scenes … I’m thinking about it all day long,” she explained. “I’m thinking about the character, the goal for the character, of what they’re wanting in the scene. … And it starts seeping into my own sort of, like, consciousness. It becomes sort of an ongoing meditation almost on these themes.”
“That influences you,” the actress continued. “When you’re living with it for so long, you start almost thinking that [way], which I think is a gift when you’re working on shows like [‘The Chosen’], because I’m constantly thinking about Mary Magdalene’s love for Jesus and that shifts into my love for Jesus.”

The Chosen Actress, Now Plays a Role in “The Shift”
Elizabeth recently started filming scenes for “The Shift,” a sci-fi movie that is largely based on the narrative of Job in the Old Testament. The Angel Studios film, according to writer and director Brock Heasley, follows a guy named Kevin Granger as he travels “across the multiverse back to what matters most to him.” Though many narrative specifics are yet unknown.

Elizabeth was drawn to the honesty and authenticity of “The Shift” because so many faith-based movies, she said, give the impression that life is much easier after salvation — but that is not always the case. Elizabeth told CBN’s Faithwire last year that, though once skeptical, she is aware now more than ever that “God’s love is real.”
When reflecting on her performance as Kevin Granger’s wife Molly in “The Shift,” Elizabeth said she is “lucky that I get to dwell in those mental spaces with roles that are genuinely life-affirming and hopeful.”
