Danny believed that the Bible is boring. That’s why, when a friend told him to read it, he declined.
Danny’s Testimony
Danny had a vague sense of knowing Jesus as a child, but as he grew older, he gradually turned away from God in favor of worldly things. Then, one day, following a supernatural revelation of who he had become, Danny set out on a quest to learn the truth about who Jesus was.
Upon knowing this, his friend encouraged him to read the scripture.

“I was like, “I don’t want to do that. That sounds… I’m not going to lie, that sounds boring,” he said.
But at that point, Danny was determined to follow Jesus. So, he tried to bargain and asked, “Is there any way I can be a Christian and follow Jesus without reading the Bible?” And he [the friend] said, “Yeah, probably. But if you have access to it, there’s absolutely no reason you shouldn’t be reading it,” Danny recalled.
He Thought The Bible Is Boring
Even though he thought the Bible was boring, he decided to read it and experienced something he had never experienced before. He understanding why reading the Bible is crucial to his journey as Christ’s follower.

“I started to see the power of this book, and I could see it was unlike anything else that I’ve ever read. I’ve been convicted of some things…. I found Christians who said it was okay for me to engage in that behavior. So I was a progressive Christian who was going to a progressive church for a while. I would attend the service. And then I would yell at my girlfriend immediately after,” he said.
Even after becoming a Christian, Danny knew there were so many things he had been doing that weren’t pleasing to God.
The Bible Is “Boring,” But It Changed Him
Danny was convicted by the scriptures and realized the true meaning of the gospel by reading the Bible.
“Though I was set free from all these things, my behavior wasn’t better in a lot of ways. I was still me. I had experienced healing from God, but I was still evil at the core. Like I hadn’t experienced sanctification.
“I realized it was the scriptures that I was twisting that the progressive Christians were saying I could twist. When I did more research into those, I realized that they were actually unambiguous. You couldn’t reinterpret those verses. Because I knew God was real at this point, and I knew what I was doing was wrong, I had to correct my behavior. When I did this, and then understood the real gospel, what it all meant was that the world was evil, that we all deserve death in hell. But Jesus took the punishment for us and died in our place. That was when I was born again,” he concluded.
