Love can be expressed by doing inconvenient things for people. And for this youth pastor, she went out of her way to help a troubled young pregnant woman.
Troubled Young Mom
The world has regarded abortion as a woman’s right. That’s why they see anyone against it as someone who disregards rights and is potentially harmful to women.
But those who know Jesus know better. Those who read the Word of God know He has a better plan. And Jessica Hurlbut, a youth pastor, believes that “the only Bible most people will ever read is your life.” So, Jessica makes every effort to live out God’s principles and heart, even though it is contrary to what the world dictates.
And one situation that made Jessica stand up for what is right is when she helped a young, expecting teenage mom.
Jessica narrated the story, “One night after a youth service, I learned a girl from our youth group was about to have an abortion.”
Her friend told Jessica that she was too afraid to tell her mom about her situation and that abortion felt like the only way.

So, they hopped in the car to catch her after her work.
“When we pulled in, her mother was waiting in the parking lot for her daughter to get out of work.”
Jessica continued, “Scared out of my mind, I jumped out of the car and blurted out, ‘I’m a youth pastor in town. I heard your daughter is pregnant and planning on an abortion tomorrow. She was too afraid to tell you.”
The girl’s mom then thanked Jessica for informing her. As they drove away, she saw them in the rearview mirror, hugging each other.
It turned out that the girl did not proceed with the abortion and birthed a beautiful baby.
Jessica ended her story with a lesson. She said, “Don’t let the world tell you to be quiet. We are called to be a light in the darkness, to be a voice for the voiceless, and to be love with skin on.”
