10 Verses To Strengthen Yourself In The Lord

The Word of God is powerful. It is living and active and it can divide soul and spirit (Hebrews 4:12).  We can hide the Word of God in our hearts as a way to train ourselves in knowing God’s ways (Psalm 119:11).  In 1 Samuel 30:6 we see David choose to “strengthen himself in the Lord”  in a moment of distress and we can do these same.

Take some time to go through each verse. Read them out loud. Then take the part of the verse that stands out to you and turn it into a prayer of your own.

Verses For Strengthen Yourself In The Lord

Psalm 25:1 – In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.

Romans 15:13 – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Exodus 14:14 – The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Psalm 139:1 – You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.

2 Corinthians 10:4 – The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

Romans 5:5 – And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Ephesians 1:18-19 – I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

In the sacred realm of your heart, there exists a thirst, a longing for something more—a yearning that finds its fulfillment in the promise of Isaiah 44:3, where God pours forth rivers of living water to rejuvenate and revive your spirit.

What Does the Bible Say?

For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” Isaiah 44:3 (ESV)

In the heart of every believer, there exists a thirst—a longing that beckons for deeper communion with God. This thirst is not a sign of emptiness, but rather, a testament to the richness of your soul. In Isaiah 44:3, you will find the promise that God will quench this thirst, pouring out His Spirit upon you and blessing your very lineage.

Friend, you are seen and known by a God who not only acknowledges your thirst but celebrates it. You are invited into a romance, where your longing heart is met with boundless love and grace. Embrace this thirst, for it is the precursor to an outpouring of living water that will transform the arid landscapes of your soul.

As you navigate the terrain of this life, let the promise of Isaiah 44:3 be your steadfast anchor. God pledges to pour water on the parched ground, breathing life into the barren places. In seasons of dryness and desolation, remember that He is ever faithful to revitalize and rejuvenate.

In your pursuit of this living water, allow Scripture to be your guiding light. Seek passages that resonate with your soul and meditate on them, allowing the words to seep into the depths of your being. It is through the Word that God often speaks most intimately, answering the cries of your thirsty heart.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for Your relentless pursuit of my heart. Help me to embrace this divine romance, to run with You into the inner chambers of Your love. Let obedience flow from the depths of my heart as a natural response to Your overwhelming affection for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

God Is Bound To His Word

In this episode of Grace Grace Nina and Michelle discuss the promises we’ve been given in God’s Word and His faithfulness to them.

For example, when the Lord told Abraham to leave his country he believed God and obeyed.

Michelle highlighted this saying, “I think about Abraham. You know the Bible says that Abraham believed God’s Word and it was credited to him as righteousness. He amened God. We need to do the same knowing what God said and that He is bound to His Word. He made an oath and because there was no one greater to swear by He swore by Himself.”

As Michelle shared the importance of know what God has said because it is a reflection of who we are in Christ. It is not just enough to know what He haas said, but we must believe Him too!

Additionally, Ephesians 6:17 reminds us that the Scriptures are the “sword of the Spirit” which is the only offensive weapon listed in the armor of God. We see Jesus use the Word as a weapon when He was tempted by the devil in Matthew 4. It truly is a weapon that we can use to defeat the attacks of the enemy in our lives!

Application

Read Psalm 119. Before you start grab something to take notes with. As you read through the Psalm write down any blessings or benefits that you are promised in the Word of God. Once you read through and made your list, reflect on the questions below.

  • Are there any blessing or benefits of the Word of God you were previously unaware of possessing as a believer?
  • Which blessing or benefit impacted you the most? Why?
  • Which blessing or benefit of the Word of God was hardest for you to receive. Why?
  • How can you incorporate these promises into your prayer life?
  • What is one thing that you can take away and apply to your life from this encounter with God’s Word?

Prayer

Pray this prayer over yourself, believing that the One who calls you is faithful (1 Thessalonians 5:24). Finally, be encouraged to pray it out loud because faith comes by hearing in Romans 10:17!

Father, thank You for Your Word. Thank You that it is living and activate and sharper than a two edge sword (Hebrews 4:12). Lord, I ask that You would give me an increased hunger for Your Word and Your voice in my life. I long to know Your thoughts and ways that are higher than mine (Isaiah 55:8-9). I pray that through Your Word You would give me wisdom and revelation to know You more (Ephesians 1:17). Teach me Your ways (Psalm 25:4) so that my life might bring glory and honor to Your name. Thank You that Your truth is what sets me free (John 8:32). Amen.

Scriptures All Over Their House

Hanna And Steve Ko are Christian parents who wanted to teach their children the ways of God. They firmly believe that God’s Word can help direct their children. They were determined to teach their children to hold on to God and His promises. “That will be what guides them, what keeps them from sin. What keeps them from falling,” Hanna shared. And even if they would fall, their faith in God would help them stand again.

Moreover, they purposely displayed biblical scriptures around their house; they were pasted on the wall, including their restroom. “It helps us memorize the verses, and it kinda helps us guard our heart against temptation and sin,” one of their children testified. On top of that, they would encourage their kids to memorize one book from the bible each summer.

Word of God

They knew that when they intentionally taught their children about the word of God, it would remain with them. “When they turn seventeen, eighteen, they will leave us. But the word of God will stay with them,” Steve highlighted. He also added that Jesus was very personal in their family. He lived in their family, and they honor Him in everything they do.

“He’s not just a Sunday God that you go and worship at church. He’s not just, you know, some kind of ritualistic thing or habit, but we teach them that you have a personal relationship with God,” Hanna remarked. They wanted their children to pray and, at the same time, listen to God’s word. They knew that they were not perfect, and they were also struggling every day, just like everybody else. But the only thing they constantly do is stick to the word of God, which is true and does not change.

Prayer

With a heart filled with gratitude, I lift my voice to You, expressing my deep thankfulness for Your abiding presence and the precious gift of Your word. In humble reverence, I acknowledge Your unwavering love and limitless grace that sustains me each day. Your word is a treasure that I desire, and I want to hide it within the depths of my heart, so that I may not stumble or yield to sin.

As the Psalmist proclaimed in Psalm 119:11, I am aware that by storing Your word within me, I discover the strength and guidance needed to resist the snares that surround me. May Your word continually dwell within me, transforming my thoughts, desires, and actions. I want to live according to Your statutes and ask that Your light shines through me, bringing honor and glory to Your matchless name. Amen.

What is The Word of God?

In a recent Instagram post by Pastor Craig Groeschel, he explained the importance of God’s Word in our lives. He described it based on the Scripture in Hebrews 4:12, where Paul the Apostle said, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Pastor Craig shared, “The Word of God is living. That’s what it says about itself. It’s living, it’s active, it’s powerful, it’s sharper than any double-edged sword.”

Further, he said, “The Word of God will speak to you, it will guide you, it will protect you, it will empower you. It will guard you against temptation. It will renew your mind, it will build your faith, it will show you every heavenly riches that you have in Christ Jesus, it is the truth. And it is the truth that will set you free.”

Reading the Bible is powerful and critical to living a healthy Christian life. Let God’s Word penetrate your soul and transform you into the likeness of Christ!

The founder of In Touch Ministries, Dr. Charles Stanley, shares 6 biblical principles that Christian can apply to overcome temptation.

Temptation of Jesus

Dr. Charles cited important lessons that people can learn in the temptation of Jesus. “The best place to go that I know to find out how to deal with temptation is with the One who conquered it every single time, and that’s Jesus,” he said. The following are the ways in which people could fight temptation:

1. Respond to the truth with the word of God.

He encouraged the people to go to the Father and learn from the word of God. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” The promise of God will remind a person to hold on and keep the faith.

2. Find verses to use as a shield against temptation.

Dr. Charles highlighted that there are verses in the bible that people can use as a defense against temptation. “Now, I may say, ‘Well, I have a defense.’ Well, that defense has parts to it. And that’s verse after verse… in the word of God that makes me realize I don’t have to yield,” he shared. Moreover, he also noted that a person should choose verses that apply to them. For instance, if they have anger issues, they need to look at the word of God and study the part of the scripture that talks about it.

3. Do not argue with the devil.

“Jesus didn’t get in any arguments with the devil. If you do that, you’ll gonna lose every time,” he shared. What the person can do is ask God about the defense that he can use in fighting temptation. Jesus didn’t misuse His power to satisfy His hunger. He also added that people need to build a foundation of strong truth.

4. Be ready for Satan to attack again.

Satan attacked Jesus more than once. Dr. Charles reminded the congregation that Satan will possibly attack again just like what He did to Jesus, as stated in Matthew 4:6, “And said to Him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning you’; and ‘On their hands, they will bear you up so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” In this passage, Satan quoted the scripture, but Jesus also used the word of God to attack him.

5. Look for the trap behind the temptation.

“Anything Satan tempts you with, it may look real profitable… if you first look, but if you will get under and look again, you will find it as a trap… it will ultimately destroy you,” Dr. Charles shared. This world is full of lies. That’s why people need to seek the truth. The prominent pastor gently reminded the people that they will reap what they sow. It is a scientific and spiritual principle.

6. Build the word of God into your Lifestyle.

The purpose behind this principle is to form a barrier before attacks come. The Word of God is a vital key to thriving. “If you will build the truth of God into your life, you will build a barrier… you will have a defense against the devil,” he mentioned.

Furthermore, he also added that it’s the spirit of God that responds to the temptation and obeys the Lord. Jesus victoriously dealt with temptation, and that’s also the hope that He would like to offer to His people.

How do you avoid backsliding from your faith? It’s simple, but it takes much discipline.

In Joshua 1 the scripture reveals that prosperity and success come from meditating on the Word of God. As a Christian, it is His Words that keep us grounded in our faith, it is also His words that teach us how to live a righteous life. The Scripture is essential to our Christianity.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” – Joshua 1:8

If the Word of God is an essential part of our Christianity, what happens to the believers who are departing from it? A member of the Harvest Now Church explained that backsliding begins when a Christian neglects to read the Bible.

“Backsliding begins with neglect of spending time with God. Neglect of prayer, private time, reading the Word, that’s where it starts. You could be worshiping God but your heart is very far from Him.”

Backsliding from faith

When Christians are not devoting time in their day to spend with God, that’s when we can let our guards down. It is easier for the enemy to influence and deceive people who aren’t spending time with God in the Word. It’s important not to neglect your private time with God so that you don’t fall into the enemy’s traps.

“The battleground is in the mind. So if your mind is not renewed by the Word, it is so easy to take in other things, other people’s opinions. It’s very important to not neglect your private time with God. Because you know who you are, you know who you are in God. And you know who God is in you.”

There is power, protection, healing, and salvation in His Word!

A young girl preached the Word of God to the congregation, saying, “you’re never too young to start working in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.”

Camila is the young girl who shared a powerful message from the Word of God. She spoke to her generation in the short video clips on Instagram that were merged together and posted by Annie Elizabeth.

“You’re never too young to start working in the gifts of the Holy Spirit,” she remarked.

Further, she said, “It changes your whole life. When you have faith, it just hits different.”

Choose Faith

Camila also talked about faith.

“Hoping and faith are two different things,” she explained. “But faith, go with faith. I love faith and you know that God is always answering your prayer because you have faith. When you are in the anointing with your faith, it’s just wonderful. I totally recommend it.”

Anointed

Camila’s boldness to preach is truly admirable.

As Annie wrote in the caption, “God has placed such an anointing and gift on her even at a young age! Just because she is young don’t underestimate her, she is a mighty preacher of the Word!! God has such an amazing plan for her and I’m so excited to see what it will become!”

One Instagram user named yolisa_moeketsi declared a powerful blessing upon Camila. She wrote, “May the Lord bless her, may He fill her with wisdom, may the angels guard her, may she mature in her gift. Lord, may the Lord enlarge her territory.”

Camila is truly a gift and a great example to her generation!
