The Best Prayer Partner You Could Ever Have: The Holy Spirit

Do you have regular conversations with the wonderful Holy Spirit? Did you know that when you dialogue with Him, He is dialoguing with Christ?

So, when you talk to Him, He is talking to King Jesus, and the words He tells you are fresh words from heaven. John 16:13 says, “But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own authority. But He will speak whatever He hears, and He will tell you things that are to come.”

When you have Jesus in your life, you can hear from God and receive fresh words from heaven. God loves you, and He wants to talk to you. He spoke to Moses as a friend, according to Exodus 33:11, under the old covenant, when the presence and anointing of the Spirit were limited to a select few. But we are living under the new covenant, where the Spirit is given without measure (John 3:34).

Your access to hearing from God is unlimited because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

There are times in our lives when we feel tired or exhausted and don’t know what to pray. But, even in these times, we can hear from Him. If you are in a time of need, running on empty spiritually, and you are unable to see the long-term fruit of your work, prayers, and ministry, I want to encourage you to know that your prayer partner, the Holy Spirit, prays for you.

Romans 8:26-27 says, “The Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” This is exciting. The Spirit prays God’s will for you.

The New Testament was written in Koine Greek, and when Romans 8:26a says, “The Spirit helps us in our weaknesses,” one of the words is συναντιλαμβάνομαι (“sunantilambanomai”). It means, “to take hold of with someone, to support, to help, aid,” (William D. Mounce’s Analytical Lexicon to the Greek New Testament, page 433).

The precious Holy Spirit comes to your aid, and He takes hold of you. Pulling you up out of the discouragement, out of the despair or depression, and intercedes for you. And then He will give you words straight from heaven, strengthening you as He leads you further into His truth in Scripture. You cannot fail when you rely on the best prayer partner in the universe. He is interceding for you, and all you need to do is talk to Him.

Here are three steps for you to receive the Spirit’s help and hear fresh words from heaven:

1. Surrender to the Spirit of God.

When we surrender to the Spirit, we are walking in the Spirit as Gal. 5:16 says, “I say then, walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Tell Him you yield and surrender to Him. Be excited approaching Him.

2. Seek Him by asking Him questions and write down the words He speaks.

Be like the prophets and authors of Scripture. According to 1 Peter 1:10b-11, “inquired and searched diligently, seeking the events and time the Spirit of Christ, who was within them, signified when He foretold the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.”

3. Search out what He says.

Ask for Scripture references, and when He whispers them to you, look them up in your Bible. Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.”

If you follow these three steps, you will have great conversations with Him. And as you talk to Him, write these things down and make a quick reference to them. When you look back on your journals, you can revisit these amazing times in His presence. Encouraging fresh words from heaven are yours!

The Wonderful Holy Spirit: Developing Your Heavenly Prayer Language

Your Heavenly Prayer Language

Praying in tongues is an amazing and precious gift. It seems many churches have tried to shy away from it. Hiding it in the back room, leaving it only to intercessory prayer meetings or counseling sessions. Some leaders may seem to apologize for praying in tongues even though it is a Biblical truth.

First Corinthians 13 is known as the “Love Chapter” and is most often read at weddings. Even though it is a beautiful chapter, its context is referring to spiritual gifts and not marriage. This chapter was sandwiched in between chapters 12 and 14, which discuss the proper use of God’s awesome gifts.

This Love Chapter describes what our attitude and motivation is to be in using spiritual gifts. Verses 8-9 say, “Love never fails. But if there are prophecies, they shall fail; if there are tongues, they shall cease; and if there is knowledge, it shall vanish. But when that which is perfect comes, then that which is imperfect shall pass away.” Some people refer to these verses, saying that spiritual gifts ceased and were only for the first-century church. But as these verses say, spiritual gifts will cease when “that which is perfect comes.”

Some might argue that “the perfect” refers to the completed canon of Scripture. But it’s more likely that it refers to Christ Himself, since verse 12 says, “For now we see as through a glass, dimly, but then, face to face.” Therefore, the spiritual gifts will cease only when Jesus returns. Some people may see this interpretation as a stretch, but if we take the entire context of the epistle of 1 Corinthians into consideration, this is hinted at in 1:7-8. Paul tells the Corinthians that he gives thanks for them, “so that you are not lacking in any gift while waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.” He will strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” And that day is when He comes back for His Church.

The gift of tongues is an incredible spiritual gift, as they all are. We are to develop our spiritual language after Jesus gives it to us (Matt. 3:11, Luke 3:16, Acts 1:8). The apostle Paul is a great model for us to follow, as he taught that tongues were not a one-time or occasional matter, but it was a lifestyle. In 1 Corinthians 14:18 he said, “I thank my God that I speak in tongues more than you all.” This should be the same in our lives and churches. This should not be just a summer camp experience or a special, once-a-year church service. But it should be applied to our daily lives.

Some people have come to me after a few weeks of being baptized in the Holy Spirit and seem discouraged. They’re saying that they only repeat the same few words in tongues that they received when they were first filled with the Spirit. But I let them know that they are on the right track and need to continue in it. It’s about to grow.

I explain to them that when we were children, we grew our language through repetition. Learning words or phrases, adding them to our vocabulary. Thus, as we pray and repeat the words or phrases in tongues the Holy Spirit gave us. Doing this our spiritual language will grow and develop. Whether we are driving, walking down the street, or in our prayer closet, we should use every opportunity to pray in tongues.

It’s a process of time and growth as we pray in the tongues of men and angels (1 Cor. 13:1). And praying in tongues is personally edifying as Paul said, “He who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself” (1 Cor 14:4a). We should be excited that we pray and worship Him and build ourselves up through the gift of tongues. We’re connecting with Him on a personal level in a supernatural way.

We should also sing in tongues in our times alone with God. First Corinthians 14:15 says, “I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding.” This is a key to developing our spiritual language and in learning how to interpret them as we pray and sing in this gift. We can all do this at home by incorporating praying and singing in tongues during our personal time with God. Then we can ask God to give us the interpretation of what we just prayed and sang. As His wonderful Spirit gives us the interpretation, we should write it down in our journal and keep it between us and Him as we praise Him in it (1 Cor 14:16).

We Need A Dunamis Revival And You Can Be Part Of It

We need a Dunamis Revival! Just like the Day of Pentecost, we need a supernatural outpouring of the Holy Spirit, where the ‘dunamis’ of God which is the power of God is poured out upon all flesh (Acts 2:17-18). And when the power of God is manifested, lives are transformed, marriages are healed, the lost are drawn into relationship with God disciples are made and people are sent on mission.

This is the answer for the present condition of our countries and the decline of the Church. This coming revival will sweep over the land. There will be no stopping it as millions of lives are touched by the power of God. New people will begin to flood to discipleship groups. The training and equipping for them through power evangelism to share His love with all people aroung the world is central to the revival.

Where does the Dunamis Revival begin?

It simply begins in your place of prayer. It starts with you and God. Have you recently felt the calling, the stirring back to your First Love and the place of prayer, rest and meditation? That is the call to the time of preparation for the revival.

It starts through your daily conversation with Him where He shares the secrets and treasures with you from Scripture. And it also begins when you have yielded and surrendered yourself to Him, and He is molding you into a person He can use for the days ahead.

The place of prayer is where you get to know Him, the lover of your soul. Being enraptured by His presence you won’t want to leave. It is here that He speaks to you, showing you His plans. John 16:13 says, ”But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own authority. But He will speak whatever He hears, and He will tell you things that are to come.”

Most importantly, as the wonderful Holy Spirit talks to you, “He will glorify Me, for He will take what is mine and declare it to you.” As you are encountering the Spirit of God in the secret place of intimacy, He will glorify Jesus. And you will be transforming in His presence.

It is exciting! You’re on an adventure. As your relationship with Him grows He starts showing you His plans, and how you are part of it. And the Lord is looking for people who seek Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord move about on all the earth to strengthen the heart that is completely toward Him.”

Also, as your encounters with Him continue, when your heart is yearning for more of Him, the heavens will open for you. His tangible presence will be with you throughout the course of your day. And you are in fellowship with His Spirit everywhere you go.

You will hunger and thirst for righteousness. You will be hungry for His presence and can’t wait to spend more time with Him. People around you will know something is different and begin to ask you questions. Some will be weeping around you as they are feeling the presence of God through you. And you will share God’s love, what He is doing in you. And miracles will breakout where you are and where He sends you.

The Dunamis Revival begins with all of us who are hungry for God. It begins with you and me. If He is calling you to return to Him, you will not regret it. He is calling you back to the place of prayer. And it is the place for the preparation of what is soon to come. And you will be part of the Dunamis Revival if you seek the face of God now. Start today in the place of prayer.
