Christian artist Lauren Daigle visited an Oklahoma prison and ministered to 300 women. She remarked, “When you go into prisons and sing, that is where you get a true sense of freedom.”

The Prison Fellowship shared on social media how the Christian singer Lauren Daigle used her talent to minister to women inside the prison. She was not indifferent but compassionate toward them.

In the video, Lauren declared that the prison is one of her favorite places to visit. Through her songs, she led the 300 women at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in worshiping God. The Prison Fellowship also noted how the Christian singer passionately shared words of hope and encouragement with the incarcerated women. As a result, laughter and cheers could be heard from inside the prison gym.

“God yearns for you, He yearns for all of us,” she told the crowd. “How amazing is that… ‘God, I see what I’ve done wrong. I definitely turned away from You. I didn’t want to have anything to do with You.’ And He says, ‘Don’t worry. That didn’t stop Me from loving you.’ There is hope for your future!”

The Prison Fellowship

Additionally, a prisoner who became a Christian testified in an interview. She shared, “You’re still capable of making positive changes in your life. No matter where your circumstances have led you, God is our reason to continue growing and walking in faith.”

In the caption, Lauren also remarked, “When you go into prisons and sing, that is where you get a true sense of freedom.”

The Prison Fellowship is a Christian ministry that reaches out to those in prison. According to their website, this is what they believe: “Even the most broken lives and situations can be restored and made whole when we respond to God’s call to serve men and women behind bars.”

May God continue to bless the works of their hands, and may more and more people come to know Christ through their ministry.

However, not all of the positive words shared on social media are genuine. Some of them may make people feel good initially, but they can ultimately lead to destruction.

During a recent episode of her “Relatable” podcast, Allie Beth Stuckey talked about five common myths that some women tend to believe due to what they hear in the culture. She explained that although these phrases might sound good, they are not biblically true.

In a short clip she posted on Instagram, she stated the five myths:

  1. You’re enough
  2. You’re perfect the way that you are.
  3. You get to determine your own truth.
  4. You’re entitled to your dreams.
  5. You can’t love other people until you love yourself.

Self-Sufficiency Leading To Destruction

Allie Beth noted how these words may provide comfort to women today. However, in reality, they are a trap that may eventually lead women to a dead end.

“Because all of those mottos, while they may soothe our insecurities temporarily, make us feel good about ourselves for just a moment, all they do is lead us more into the myth of self-sufficiency,” she explained. “That we are enough for our own happiness, for our satisfaction. All we have to do is to follow our hearts, discover ourselves, chase our dreams, then we’ll finally be happy. We’ll find the fulfillment that we’ve been trying to find. And yet, as I argue in my book, that is a dead end.”

Then, the influencer remarked how humans are “finite” and “fallible,” and God had a reason He designed people in such a way.

“All of the things that we are trying and failing to find inside of ourselves can only be found outside of ourselves namely in our Creator,” she stressed. “And so, when we delude ourselves into thinking that we are the source of our own fulfillment and satisfaction and sufficiency, and all of these things, we actually exhaust ourselves with the responsibility of trying to be our own god. And there only is One, and that is the only God that there is, that is Jesus Christ.”

Christian Professor And Theologian Explains Women’s Role As A Helper According To Genesis

Kristi Mclelland, a professor and theologian, discussed the meaning behind the word ‘helper,’ which is the term used to describe woman in the book of Genesis.

Genesis 2:18 says, “Then God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper as his partner.” The following verses showed that God referred to the woman as the suitable helper.

In discussing the word ‘suitable helper,’ Kristi led the audience to its original Hebrew word, Ezer Kenegdo.

She recalled, “I learned this when I was studying in Israel, and it literally bent my brain. I was a different creature before before this and after it.”

Kristi explained the reason for her transformation because the word helper was very different from where she came from in rural Mississippi. “A helper out of my world, my southern world, is someone’s secondary. The secondary helps the primary. The helper helps the main one,” she said.

Suitable Helper

But according to Kristi, Ezer essentially means helper, aide, or strength. “It’s a very strong word. And it carries the idea of strengthening someone in a way they cannot do themselves.”

She then pointed out the real reason “why her brain literally bent out.”

“Throughout the Bible, like usually when we see this word Ezer, it’s a word that God uses to describe Himself in relation to Israel.”

She continued, “And we would never say that God was secondary Israel. We would say God helped, aided, and strengthened Israel in ways she could not do for herself.”

Men and women are created according to His image, each demonstrating aspects of God that, when brought together, complete His perfect design.

Annabella Rockwell, one of the women, shared to host Ainsley Earhardt her story of finding Christ during the darkest moment of her life. Apparently, she was raised in a Christian home. But during college, the teen became rebellious and turned to partying. She also became distant from her family.

“There was no room for God,” she told Ainsley. “…In this void of really not believing anymore is when I became susceptible to all these very progressive ideas. And wokeism because as God was missing from my heart, I needed to fill that void with something.”

But while living such a lifestyle, Annabella’s mother “kept praying for her.” Then during the pandemic, God answered her mother’s prayer.

Annabella felt a nudge in her heart to turn back to God. Soon, she gave her life to Christ and finally found peace.

“The moment I decided to accept Jesus… it’s been on a daily basis…,” she recalled. “A little bit more peace, a little every day, and a little bit more grace. And also, this desire to get to know Jesus and to get to know God and the Bible.”

Forgiving Her Abuser

In another testimony by a fellow Mount Holyoke College student, she shared how God helped her overcome her trauma from sexual abuse. It was through a worship song when she attended church that led to her encounter with God.

“…God touched my heart and I just couldn’t forget that,” she recalled. “In that moment, I realized just how deeply I needed Jesus to save me because I had tried therapy. I tried so many things up until then to help me heal and move on and forgive, but it was all superficial. I couldn’t truly move on from it.”

Soon after, she decided to release forgiveness to the man who abused her. Apparently, the abuser also accepted Christ and asked for her forgiveness.

“That was the most joyous moment I’ve ever had in my life at that point,” she remarked. “I felt the Holy Spirit. I was just crying out for joy, crying out for the Lord. I was so happy and not only the relief that…he also found God too, but that he’s also forgiven by Jesus…that God found him as well and that he’s been healed…God is working.”

Proclaiming Jesus In Graduation Speech

Also, another testimony by Ambar Miniel Sanchez talked about the struggle she faced in her graduation speech at Miami Dade College. When she submitted her draft to her professor, she advised her not to include Jesus in her speech.

“Every time I gave him a draft, he would give it back and…scratch out the name Jesus,” she said.

But in the end, Ambar didn’t back down and thanked Jesus in front of the graduates. She then testified, “the whole crowd started clapping and I was so shocked.”

Anne Wilson’s hit single “Hey Girl” is speaking a powerful message for young girls and women.

In a recent interview, the 20-year-old artist shared how the song was birthed out of a time of her insecurity during her teenage years. The song “Hey Girl” speaks to young girls and women about their true identity. It has become a huge hit and spent 21 weeks on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart.

“I grew up in a great home and had great friends when I was younger,” Anne shared. “But when I got into middle school and high school, I just felt like my identity was just gone. I was so insecure, I felt not good enough, I felt not worthy. And girls are always so mean in that age group. And everyone’s trying to figure out what they’re doing in their life. I just felt so down on myself all the time.”

“Hey Girl”

But everything changed during her eighth grade when her mentor prayed for her during one of her tough days. That was when she truly realized her true identity.

“I was having this really, really rough day,” she said. “And I remember one of my mentors coming up to me, and she was just praying over me. And she said to me, ‘Anne, you are God’s precious daughter, and He sees you as His precious daughter.’ And that changed everything for me when I realized that it wasn’t about what I looked like. It wasn’t about what people thought about me. It wasn’t about what I did or achieved in this lifetime – but that my highest calling is that I’m God’s precious daughter. When I had that moment, it changed everything for me.”

Identity

Just as she has been reminded of her true identity by her mentor’s words, she also wanted her song to speak that message to other women. Our identity is rooted in Jesus Christ.

“My heart’s desire for this song was that it would reach people, and specific women of all ages, but also in that middle school to high school range that it would point them back to Jesus, that their identity is in Him,” she said. “And that’s the most important thing that we can carry in this life – is knowing that it doesn’t matter what other people think about us, it doesn’t matter what the enemy says about us or tries to speak over us, but that our identity is rooted in Jesus. So it’s been really cool to see how this song has already impacted girls and women of all ages. And I hope that it just continues to point people back to Him.”

A Life Of Pain & Attracted To Women

Venus Burton grew up in a dysfunctional home. Her mom was always at work and longed to have the presence of her father. It deeply wounded her as a child that it caused her to rebel. Pain and anger also consumed her heart.

At 13-years-old, Venus’s mom became a Christian. But during this time, the teen began rapping as an outlet for her struggles and pain. Soon, Venus also began to drink. And to hide her emotions, she started to build walls and act tough. Her desperation to appear tough made her decide to act and wear clothes like a man.

FORMER DRUG ADDICT FINDS FREEDOM THROUGH LOVE

“Because I wanted to be that aggressive,” Venus recalled. “I wanted to be the man role, I wanted to be the one that was in control.”

And because she felt more accepted with her new lifestyle, Venus all the more embraced becoming a man. Two years later, she also got into relationships with women.

Experiencing Jesus

Venus was popular as an underground rapper, all the while drinking and partying. But soon, she would find herself in the darkest moment of her life. All the women broke her heart, and everything she thought would make her happy never satisfied her.

Meanwhile, her mom, Vicki, was praying for her daughter. She believed God for a miracle and that He would turn her daughter’s life around.

One day, Venus prayed sincerely to God, “I know You’re real. But I need You to show up now. I’m tired.”

Then when she thought the world was going to end, Venus asked God to save her. When she instantly felt God’s warmth, love, and compassion, she felt her desire to sleep with women was gone.

In a recent Instagram post by Sadie Robertson, she opened up about her journey in overcoming her insecurities. Also, in the post, the Christian author shared snapped photos of herself facing a mirror.

She started her caption with the question, “What do you see when you look in the mirror?” Then shared a memory where she struggled with insecurity during her younger years.

Sadie admitted how she only saw her “flaws” every time she faced a mirror back then. It was like her mind would only highlight what was wrong with her appearance and “would see the acne she couldn’t shake.” She became too conscious that the young Sadie came to the point of “trying 1000 different things.” Further, the Duck Dynasty star also bought “100 more products of makeup” in trying to cover up her flaws. And then she couldn’t get enough and desired to be “more in shape” as well.

Becoming Self-Centered

Those insecurities led Sadie to make decisions that weren’t good. It only led to frustrations and getting more insecure. She also compromised her health to the point she overworked out and underate. What she saw in the mirror, and perceiving it her identity greatly affected how she lived her life.

“It also lead me to thinking about ME way too much,” Sadie remarked. The actress stressed how she became self-centered at that time.

Then finally, she realized, “The truth is, my life is just way bigger than me. My reflection is much bigger than an image. The reflection I see in the mirror doesn’t even begin to capture the true reflection I want my life to be. The mirror only sees my face and my body, but it can’t see my heart, my mind, and my soul. The things I actually need to be investing my time in to make healthy! Because that time would be truly change the way I lived!”

Light Of The World

Today, Sadie is encouraging women to see themselves beyond outward beauty. Because our identity is way more than appearance. It is “more than our perfect skin tone, our shape, our makeup, our hair or whatever else we spend time working on.”

“Our reflection has the power to truly be LIGHT,” Sadie added. “A light can change someone’s life. A light that changes the world. A light that brings hope to the dark places in our friends, family and worlds life.”

And the Christian author is calling out women “to be the light of the world” more than just being beautiful.

“You were made in the image of God and God is the light of the world,” Sadie remarked.

Tim Tebow’s wife, and also known as Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Tebow, revealed her Godly friends in an Instagram post, and they’re women who always point her back to Jesus.

In a photo that Demi-Leigh shared on Instagram, she expressed her gratefulness towards Godly friends. She also hinted a message that we have the power to choose who we allow to influence our life. And they should be genuine friends who lead us closer to Christ.

Demi wrote, “We may not always get to choose who speaks about our life. But how cool is it to know that we have the power to choose who speaks into our life.”

Then she added, “I’m so grateful for each of these women who each truly speak life into my life constantly and who always point me back to Jesus.”

The former Miss Universe shared a photo of four of her girl friends, all of them riding a bicycle. Also, the other picture in the Instagram carousel stood the five beautiful ladies in a candid shot standing beside the road of Rosemary Beach, Florida.

One follower seemed to be encouraged with Demi’s caption that she quoted the Bible verse in 1 Thessalonians 5:11. Instagram user @irinaglazkova89 wrote, “Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

Demi-Leigh is known to have been empowering women in this generation. It became her advocacy after one moment in her life when armed men almost abducted her.

In addition, she shared a powerful message to women in March this year as she redefined beauty standards. Demi shared the battle she had to face when she competed Miss Universe because people began to define her in certain ways so that she wouldn’t win the pageant.

“I was one of the shortest girls to go in and compete this title. And now if you think of models, beauty queens, they’re usually tall,” she said. “As a Christian, I’ve had to go back and define self-love, self-worth, self-image to myself. And the definition that I got was I need to have confidence in who God says I am. Not self-confidence, but God-confidence.”

Relentless Woman, Pray And Empower Other Women

In a highly competitive world, genuinely celebrating the success of others is a rare response, especially to women. But as daughters of God, we are the ones who should pave the way in creating a culture that genuinely prays for and empowers other women, not compete.

Insecurities

Insecurity is the root of a competitive spirit. Many can fall into thinking they have to fit into what the world deems as valuable. As a result, most women constantly seek this validation and worth by competing with other women. And it has become a very unhealthy culture where women drag each other down.

Today’s culture has dramatically influenced how women should live and what they should look like to feel accepted by society. Perhaps this is because of the age we are in today—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc. As a result, comparison became an unwelcome trait to this generation. The values of this generation can eventually lead to self-entitlement, and what is warned against in the Bible has become normal and acceptable.

Do Not Compete

How then should we respond in this world where competition has become a norm?

Fix your eyes on Jesus and place your worth and identity in Him alone. It’s the only way a woman would be able to live her life with no rival. When you know your worth in God, you won’t have to think about competition because your only competition will be yourself.

Moreover, the more you see yourself the way God sees you, you would see other people in the same way. You would see how Jesus sees them, and it would be from a place of love instead of fear. Because fear has to do with not being secure about who you are.

So, relentless woman, defy the world’s norm by living out your identity as a daughter of God. And from a place of love, genuinely care for, pray for, and empower other women.

“For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” -Psalm 139:13-14

“I was one of the shortest girls to go in and compete this title. And now if you think of models, beauty queens, they’re usually tall,” she said.

People started defining her in certain ways so that she wouldn’t win the pageant. She further explained how young girls nowadays do the same, defining themselves in boxes placed by social media, how to look and act.

“As a Christian, I’ve had to go back and define self-love, self-worth, self-image to myself. And the definition that I got was I need to have confidence in who God says I am,” Demi-Leigh stressed. “Not self-confidence, but God-confidence.”

The Miss Universe 2017 then shared Psalm 139:13 in the bible where it says, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Not Self-Confidence But God-Confidence

According to Demi, the real definition of true beauty comes from God.

“I believe true beauty shines from the inside out. And although being Miss Universe 2017 was a huge part of my life and such a tremendous honor, it does not define my beauty. The confidence that I gain from my Creator is what defines my true beauty,” she wrote in the post.

Then she pointed out, “Over the years, I’ve realized that no amount of makeup, clothes, or words of affirmation will ever make me feel worthy. But replacing self-confidence with God confidence will always make me feel worthy, because He defines my ultimate beauty.”
