A woman, set free from 18 years of addiction, testified of how God changed her life.
Her Testimony
A woman from Walla Walla, Washington, shared her story of recovery after being delivered from addiction.
She struggled with drug addiction since she was in eighth grade when she started smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. The addictions became her identity and an escape from her reality.
“I didn’t really know who I was; I was really confused. And when I would go to church, I would still hurry and want to rush and go with my friends to smoke. It controlled my life, for sure. So I had no idea what the Holy Spirit was, even though I did believe. I was a lukewarm Christian,” she said.

Because of this, she was also confused about who God was.
“I thought that I could do whatever I wanted; my sins would be forgiven, and I’d get into heaven either way, so it didn’t matter,” she said.
She tried her best to overcome the addiction, but even with the help of the doctors, nothing was working.

Finally, her friends invited her to go to one of Hungry Gen’s services. She had no clue what it was, but she went with an open heart because she knew she needed to try something.
Then she experienced the power of the Holy Spirit.

“As soon as he touched me, I instantly saw light, and I was trying to open my eyes to see what was going on around me. Only I could hear but the feeling… the power of the Holy Spirit had taken over my whole body, that I had no control over. It didn’t matter how much I tried to open my eyes; it was just bright. It was so bright,” she recalled.
In that moment she was changed forever.
“So many curses are overturned; my finances are good. I have no depression, no anxiety. I’m still clean and sober since November 4th. I just had a clean UA. I got a new job at the rehab center in college place,” she said.
God’s Goodness
She concluded her testimony with encouragement to press on.
“The devil’s big mad that he lost a soul. I’m a recovering addict with 18 years of addiction. But when you don’t feel Him, He is there. He is always working, no matter what. Give God all the glory, and He will overturn anything and everything you’re going through. God is good. He’s just continuing to work with me and showing me patience, you know, as I’m learning this,” she concluded.
