John Bevere shares the benefits of tongues as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Tongues, One of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The minister and teacher confessed that he was told that the gift of tongues stopped with the time of the apostles. But as he read in the Bible, he found that the gift is mentioned many times. And it is still present in the Church today if only they believe and ask.
And so, he asked God for it and believed he would receive it. He wanted to communicate with God in the heavenly language, and so he did.
Now, he explains one of the many benefits of practicing the gift of tongues. He referred to the book of Isaiah 28:11-12.
“For with stammering lips and another tongue, God will speak to His people. To whom He said this is the rest which you may cause the weary to rest, and this is refreshing.”
From the given verses, John explained the two things God said. “He says you get rest and refreshing when you pray in tongues.”
He explained, “Why don’t people hear from God? Because they’re so busy.”
John went on to share his personal prayer experience with God. “I hear from God when my soul gets quiet.”
According to John, praying in tongues helps him get his mind focused on God. It allows him to listen to the Holy Spirit and not to his mind.
“I fight when I pray because my mind’s not engaged. I’m not praying in the understanding. My mind can wander easily. Because why? My mind’s not at rest. But if I continue to pray and continue to pray in the Spirit, in tongues, all of a sudden, now my mind gets quieted down.
“So many times, God has spoken to me praying in tongues,” John shared.
