Tom’s persistent friend got him to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Years later, almost everyone in his circle of friends received Jesus, too.
Louie Got Saved
Tom, Louie, and Jeff are college friends and roommates.
The three friends, being 19 at that time, had no intention of getting involved in any church activities, let alone be saved. They lived in a one-bedroom apartment in a place that was famous as a college party town.
One day, one of them was invited to go to church and that was Louie. He was a nominal Catholic.
Tom offered to come up with an excuse so Louie wouldn’t go to the church, like hiding in the bathroom. But Louie wanted to stay true to his word and attended the church service.
Tom and Jeff went to the bar by themselves while Louie was in the church. When going home, Tom sarcastically asked, “What if Louie got saved.”
Their fears and prediction became real! Louie was reading his Bible in their one-bedroom apartment when the two got home.
He got saved.
Persistent Friend Got Him To Accept Jesus
Since then, Louie always invited Tom and Jeff to go to church. It went on for days and weeks, and the two would just always tell Louie to, “Shut up!”
Tom was fuming mad and said, “Fine, we’ll go to Hell all by ourselves. But just shut up. I don’t want to hear it.”
Jeff, however, would always argue and Louie would patiently and attentively answer his questions. He immersed himself in the Word of God.
The constant debate and argument of Jeff and Louie was always heard by Tom. So, one night, as he lay on the bed trying to not hear the other two in the other room, he asked God if He was real. “I was laying on the bed with my hands behind my head, and I said, ‘God, I’m not going to do this just because Louie did this. But if you’re real, I’ll serve you.”
The “presence of the Holy God of the Universe came into that room,” he added. “I thought I was going to die. I couldn’t believe anybody had heard that prayer or would answer that prayer.”
Astonished, he prayed to God: “Ok, just don’t kill me.”
He accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior!
Tom Embraced a New Life
Tom and Louie would go to church together. He knew that the Holy Spirit had convicted him to be his disciple.
The life and reality he once lived that was exposed to drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes– was gone.
“God went out of his way to touch my life,” Tom says. “I didn’t know all of what was going to happen, but I realized that this was big and I went all in and decided to become a disciple and got sent out.”
