This Little Light of Mine
In the 1950s and 1960s, the gospel song “This Little Light of Mine” became associated with the civil rights dispute. But it was originally composed by Harry Dixon Loes in the 1920s as a children’s song, though it is sometimes misunderstood to have been performed on plantations during slavery.
The source of this hymn came from Scripture, where God admonishes His followers to let their light shine through the power of the Holy Spirit.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8).
1-Year-Old Singing His Heart Out
This 1-year-old singing his heart out reminds believers of their main calling: to be the salt and light of this world.
As can be seen in the video, the little boy memorized the lyrics and was in tune with the song. Many commented on how great his intonation was.
