Vanna Kong, a Buddhist man, who didn’t understand the consequences of sin found himself imprisoned for the wrong choices he made.
Vanna Kong, Once a Buddhist Man
“I was born on November 20th, in a refugee camp in Thailand, in Chonburi. I thank God; He brought us here. As I was growing up, I didn’t know about God. I didn’t know about Christianity; I didn’t grow up as a Christian,” Vanna said.
He was born a Buddhist, and his whole family was too. And it was nothing more than a religion for him. He grew up not knowing what sin meant, and he didn’t know how it was affecting his life either.
“But God opened my eyes. He spoke to me in His words, and I thank Him,” he said.
His Past Life
Since Vanna couldn’t draw the line between right and wrong, he fell into a life as a thief, a robber, a drunkard, and a fighter. It was too late when he realized it was wrong.
“I didn’t see what I was doing wrong until I was punished for my sins. I ended up in prison for a while. Which I deserve, and I learned my lesson,” he said.
However, Vanna had grown up near a church where he heard the famous passage, John 3:16.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Buddhist Man, Bowing to Buddhas
When he wanted to change, he embraced his family’s religion. He once believed that doing good deeds would get him to heaven. And He also thought he would be perfect but realized he was far from it.
“I was guilty. I had doubts. My faith in Christ made me realize that I finally understood what salvation meant—it’s a free gift from God. If I repent and confess my sins, He is merciful and just to forgive me,” he said.
“I bowed down to God and cried out to Him, and I accepted Him in my heart. And I believe He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The only way to get to the Father is through the Lord Jesus,” he added.
Accepting Jesus as Lord
Jesus came into his life and changed it completely. Vanna believes that God has forgiven him for his past, present, and future.
“I don’t deserve to go to heaven, my dear friends. I deserve to be punished and go to hell. But He’s merciful and gracious enough to forgive me. And I thank Him so much. Now, I serve the Lord. Now, I have salvation because He is my rock and my salvation. He’s my redeemer. He’s the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. The first and last.
“I was lost at that one point. But He sought me and saved me,” he concluded.
