Internationally recognized theologian and preacher, Greg Boyd, has contracted the novel coronavirus. Prayers are asked for the 62-years-old as symptoms have worsened.
Greg Boyd
Greg, the senior pastor of Woodland Hills Church in Minnesota, announced on social media that he tested positive for Covid-19. He never thought of contracting the virus since he was very careful in following the guidelines. He said, “Shelley (his wife) and I have methodically followed CDC guidelines from the start of this pandemic. Yet, I somehow contracted the COVID virus! Come on!!”
He added, “It just goes to show that when dealing with Covid, you can’t be to careful!”
Greg Boyd is famous among preachers because of his impact on the faith community. His best-selling and award-winning book, Letters from a Skeptic, has helped many skeptics embrace faith and facilitated answers to some of their questions of Jesus.
He also founded ReKnew, a movement that aims to “encourage believers and skeptics alike to re-think things they thought they already knew,” as written from their official website.
“The focus of ReKnew is to challenge church traditions that we don’t believe are consistent with the movement Jesus birthed and with the teachings of the New Testament,” they added.
Prayers for Greg
However, friends of Greg have asked fellow believers to extend their prayers for the theologian. Yesterday, one of Greg’s friends, Matt Tebbe, has invited his Facebook friends to remember Greg. He shared, “Y’all join with me in praying for Greg Boyd. He’s on oxygen at home battling Covid. You may disagree with him on issues of theology but he’s a saint. He’s one of the beautiful good ones.”
“Lord Jesus, heal Your servant Greg,” he pleads.
Matt, a co-founder of Gravity Leadership, has partnered with Greg several times in discussing profound questions of the deity of Jesus and the problem of evil. Listeners are always left in a new level of awe with the Savior, Jesus Christ.
