Bible teacher Kristin Nave shared a beautiful revelation in one of her Instagram posts. She discussed the last song that Jesus sang before He died. On the night before He was crucified, Jesus had a Passover meal with His disciples. In Matthew 26:30, it was written, “When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” The Passover tradition indicates that the last song that would have been sung was Psalm 118.
According to Kristin, the Psalm was like a window into Jesus’ heart and a pathway of hope for those who believed in Him. It also signified that even Jesus experienced distress. However, despite how He felt, He chose to look to the Father for His strength, song, and salvation.
“The Psalm tells us that Jesus reminded himself of the ultimate victory coming – victory over death,” she emphasized.

Psalms 118
Furthermore, she also highlighted that in Psalms 118, it was written, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” To her, this felt like a prophecy that Jesus fulfilled. Meanwhile, she also pondered on what He must have felt while singing the song, knowing that in a few hours, He would die and become that cornerstone.
Furthermore, she explained that the Psalms expressed distress. They concluded with praise due to God’s mercy, love, and salvation.
In verses 28-29, it was written, “You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Jesus may have experienced pain and suffering, but He worshipped God with thanksgiving.
More importantly, she encouraged those who are struggling: “This same mercy, love, and salvation is offered and given to us today in whatever we face.”
