Yesupadam shared that he once told God his specific prayer for a wife. But he didn’t know He would answer exactly how he wanted it.
Yesupadam’s Testimony
Yesupadam’s name means ‘Jesus Foot.’ He grew up in a poor, remote village in India. He received the label “untouchables” under India’s social caste system because they were deemed unable to be “touched.” But God has powerfully used his life to reach the tribal people in the country.
It happened when he saw Jesus in a heavenly vision. He saw the Savior nailed to the cross, blood streaming from His wounded hands. And in an audible voice, he heard Him say, “Son, I have done all this for you; what will you do for Me?”
Since then, he has responded by surrendering his life and beginning to tell his people about Jesus.
The Struggle
However, it wasn’t easy. He was persecuted and rejected many times. Yet he knew how great Jesus was and wanted everyone to know.
When Yesupadam suffered harm, he had a deeper revelation of the cross. He specifically shared about a time when he was stoned by the people he was trying to reach.

“I watched them bending down and picking up the rocks. I still didn’t believe they would honestly hit me with the rocks. Then one guy threw the rock. Rocks started hitting me. And I touched my head, and I saw there was red blood,” he recalled.
Still, he responded with love.
But Yesupadam was heartbroken when his wife passed away because of cancer. Because of what happened, he didn’t want to marry again.
Prayer for a Wife
He said, “I wanted to be single for the rest of my life. But because of the arranged system in India, some of my leaders felt like I needed a wife. It came to the point that I was a little frustrated with all that. I said, “Lord, if You really think I should marry again, she must be white skinned, blonde hair, and blue eyes, and she should come and ask me.”
Lo and behold, God led Monika Paidipamula to Yesupadam.
Monika said, “My friends heard about a missionary from India coming to speak at a church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where I’m from. And then one day, God just burdened my heart to pray for him. And I even started praying for a wife for him. So I walked out, looked back towards the stage where he was speaking, and God spoke to me again. Still, small voice: “He’s your husband.”
