Wake Chapel Church Lead Pastor Sharon Dean shared words of advice to those “being tested to make inappropriate choices.” Her wisdom might be a helpful reminder to some Christians.
Be Alert
The Apostle Peter once advised believers in 1 Peter 5:8 to always be alert and have a sober mind. He stated that the “enemy, the devil, is constantly on the prowl like a roaring lion, searching for someone to devour.” Therefore, Peter urged believers to stay vigilant and not let their guard down.
It’s important to remember that the enemy described by Peter in the past is still the same today. Temptation is always present, and the devil will try to lead people away from God. He may even whisper ideas that lead them to make choices that distance them from the Almighty.
How To Respond When Tested
Lead Pastor Sharon Dean shared some advice concerning the issue in a short clip she posted on Instagram. She urged people to focus on God and eternity.
“When you’re being tested to make inappropriate choices that will move you away from the plan that God has,” she explained. “When you feel that temptation to rush ahead of Him. And when you feel that temptation to take matters into your own hands. You’ve got to remind yourself, anything I do will produce a temporary satisfaction. Anything that God does has an eternal impact.”

“In the moments when you’re tempted to take matters into your own hands, remember that God’s plan will always be better than your own,” Sharon remarked. “Allow God to fortify your spirit to withstand the desire to move ahead of Him.”
