Bethel Church Executive Pastor, Lauren Vallotton, shares her journey as a stepmom of three kids.
Lauren Vallotton
In an episode of A Life You Love with host Renee Evans, the executive pastor at Bethel Redding shares her journey as she entered into a family as a stepmother. She also shares how God taught her things in motherhood.
Lauren shared how she married her husband, Jason, who came from a divorce and was a single dad of three children. It was God that brought them together and brought redemption to their family after the brokenness they experienced.
“God is in the business of redemption,” Lauren said. “People are broken, there are people that are broken before and after divorce. Then if God is in the business of redemption, then He wants families restored. Every child should grow up in a home where there are two parents, in my opinion, that’s God’s design as family.”

Blended Families
The director of operations at Bethel Church also shared how she believes that blended families are not God’s design. However, it’s God’s faithfulness that made her a loving mother to her stepkids.
“I don’t think it’s God’s design, it’s not His perfect design that blended families would even have to exist. Because that means there was deep pain and brokenness and loss to some degree. But He’s so faithful in the midst of it. We’re not expected to nail it perfectly. We’re expected to show up with a heart of love and figure out what He’s doing in the midst and partner with Him.”
Stepmom
In parenthood, no one is perfect, every parent is just doing their best. Parents don’t need to have all the answers and they don’t need to have control over everything. Parents just need to love their children.
“My job is just to love them, my job is to be there. I’m not their biological mother. My job though is to be there and to be a safe place and to love them wherever they are at.”
