Christian author and evangelist David Diga Hernandez warned on using too much social media, asking, “are you giving up your Bible for social media?”

People are now living in a generation where information is always accessible. With just one click, one can search anything.

And here are pros and cons to this access of information. On a positive side, people can easily connect and communicate with their loved ones living far away through social media. And because information is very accessible, everyone can hear the Gospel wherever and whenever through digital media. But there are also downsides tand it can become a distraction.

Don’t Neglect Reading God’s Word

In a Facebook reel shared by evangelist David Diga Hernandez, he warned Christians about using too much social media. Social media in and of itself isn’t bad. But if it compromises a believer’s walk it’s not good.

David urged Christians not to allow distractions to hinder them from growing in the Lord, especially in reading the Bible.

“Don’t tell me you don’t have time for the Word if you’re caught up on your latest Netflix series,” he said. “Don’t tell me you don’t have time for the Word if you’re scrolling on social media feeds for hours on end.. don’t tell me that you don’t have time for the Word if you get stuck on TikTok and YouTube for hours.”

Then he remarked, “You want to be a strong Christian, you want to be a consistent Christian? You want to be a Christian who is stable even in the midst of turmoil and trial? You need the Word in your life.”

Revival In The Social Media Era

I remember in late 1995 hearing about the Brownsville revival. It was about several months after it started, if I remember correctly. It was still another year before we visited. It is interesting to see revival in the social media era and how it is helping to promote this present move of God, seeing it now spread from campus to campus. It’s also powerful to see the hunger of God in so many people who dropped everything to visit.

That is how it was at Brownsville. People came from all over the world just to get a fresh touch from the Holy Spirit. Seeing the people standing in line for hours at Asbury, reminds me of standing in line outside of Brownsville Assembly of God. But had there been social media at the time, I think it would’ve grown more quickly.

(It’s at this point that many people say that God can touch you anywhere at any time. And that is absolutely true. But when God pours out His Spirit at a specific location, part of the test of our hunger is how desperate we are to get there. There’s a cost. There is something special about being where the outpouring is taking place that can’t be replicated anywhere else, unless God wills it.)

Now we have live streaming, which I have been watching for days, even in the background, while I am working. There are instant interviews and testimonies.

In some ways, many ways, social media has been a gateway to darkness. I can’t even imagine being a young teenager today with a plethora of images and information available. I love to see God using the internet to fuel revival in the social media era for His glory.

Thousands of people continue to flock to Asbury University for the ongoing worship sessions, and social media plays a huge role.

With thousands of posts and videos posted on social media about the nonstop Asbury revival, many people are still coming in despite having to drive thousands of miles and for long hours.

This huge awakening and outpouring from God has remarkably gone viral on TikTok and on different social media platforms, even though it was intended to be low-key.

Asbury University President Dr. Kevin Brown told NBC, “The first day we had a very ordinary service, I would call it unremarkable.”

He added, “The university made an intentional decision not to publicize this because we wanted to place an abundance of respect towards the experience of our students.”

#Asburyrevival Gone Viral

Many have attested that what they experienced was far from what the majority would like to call “revival.” It wasn’t hype. It was very simple, yet profound. There wasn’t an intention for it to be highly publicized. But thanks to social media, the world has now seen that the body of Christ is hungry for revival.

Mark Whitworth, Asbury University’s vice president of communications, told NBC, “It has absolutely been social media that is the mechanism that people found out about this.”

People who have been there and witnessed it firsthand were the very ones who uploaded and shared their testimonies on social media.

NBC reported that on February 16, videos hashtagged “Asbury Revival” were racking up millions of views on TikTok and Instagram. At the same time, the hashtag #asburyrevival had 24.4 million views on TikTok.

Low-key

Nick Hall, an attendee who purchased a one-way plane ticket from Minneapolis when he saw a viral video on Instagram, told NBC that the gathering was notably low-key for something that people are calling a “revival.”

“This is acoustic guitars, pianos, and very noncharismatic speakers. This is as un-sensationalized as it could be,” he said.

He further told NBC that the Gen Z generation is leading the charge in the sanctuary and on social media.

“They’re the ones that started it, they’re the ones that sustained it, and they’re the ones that have been on the platform the whole time,” he said.

The younger generations sparked the fire, and the older generations are on the boat now, ready to receive a fresh wave from God.

Indeed, we were born at such a time as this!

GOD TV previously reported the tragic event that unfolded on the field during the game between Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. He collapsed due to cardiac arrest in the middle of the game and was rushed to the hospital. Then a video of his teammates went viral as they gathered together on the field to pray for Damar’s life.

As the world witnessed what happened, prayers poured in for the Buffalo Bills’ safety. Especially when it was revealed that he was in critical condition. Most people, not just his loved ones, team, and friends, joined in prayer, as well as his fans worldwide. It was a historic moment. Furthermore, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky made headlines because of his kind gesture to pray for Damar live on national television.

Answered Prayers

Indeed, God answered everyone’s prayers. According to CBN News report, the 24-year-old is now recovering and “doing well.” This was also evident with the recent posts he shared on social media asking for more prayers despite getting past the critical stage.

But what’s remarkable is that Damar has been highlighting God in his Twitter posts since his recovery. In his tweet on Sunday, the athlete expressed his yearning to join his teammates in the game. But he believes that God is using him in a “different way.” The 24-year-old then encouraged his followers to “Tell Someone You Love Them Today!”

Moreover, when the Buffalo Bills tweeted, Damar reshared the post and wrote, “God Behind All This No Coincidence.” The post shared an astounding thought of Damar’s number, three. And amazingly, it had also been “three years and three months since their last kickoff return for a touchdown.”

Damar also expressed his gratefulness to the millions of people who have prayed for him.

“When you put real love out into the world it comes back to you 3x’s as much,” the athlete wrote on Instagram. “The love has been overwhelming, but I’m thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. We brung the world back together behind this. If you know me you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road keep praying for me!”

Nathaniel Buzolic Urges People To Return To Christ-Centered Love

Actor Nathaniel Buzolic compared Christians, especially on Social Media, to Pharisees since their love has grown cold. He is also urging them to return to Christ-centered love.

Nathaniel, popularly known as Nate Buzz, is an Australian actor known for his roles in “Hacksaw Ridge,” and “The Originals.” He is a devoted born-again Christian and has always been outspoken about his faith. He often uses his Social Media accounts as a platform to share about Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

Recently, the 38-year-old actor shared a strong message on his Instagram account addressed to Christians on Social Media. He compared them to the Pharisees because their love for other people has grown cold.

“The Christian community (particularly on Social media) is fast becoming a fig tree that has gone completely rotten – producing bad, to no fruit at all,” he wrote. “Our love for one another has grown cold.”

“If your primary contribution to the kingdom of God is telling someone else how they should correctly live, Without living it out with them – You have switched over to full-blown Pharisee mode,” Nathaniel continued.

Christ-centered love

He then continued to talk about how Paul has walked with believers before he wrote letters of conviction to them.

“We are called to correct, teach & train our fellow Christians, But remember this Paul walked with believers before writing letters of conviction to them. Let me say that again He walked with them, He knew them & they knew him. Many Christians today seem to take real pride in tearing down other believers publicly whom they have no real relationship with.”

Before he taught his fellow Christians how to live a Christ-like life, he experienced being with them first. That’s what the Pharisees have failed to do.

“The greatest mistake the Pharisees of Yeshua’s time made was assuming things about people they knew not or cared not to truly know, in addition to this they would hold a higher standard of living to others more than how they were willing to live out themselves.”

He then quoted Romans 1:16-17 to teach everyone to live by faith and be transformed by the power of God. Nathaniel Buzolic ended his message by urging everyone to return to “Christ-centered love today.”

Young Man Never Regrets Choosing Life, His Story Goes Viral On Social Media

A young man who struggled with addiction, spent time in rehab, and became a father shared his heartfelt story about choosing life and saying no to abortion on social media. It’s bringing hope to many.

Choosing Life, Saying No To Abortion

In a post that went viral on Twitter, user “YungNLeveraged” shared his personal story highlighting that he never regretted choosing life. He wrote, “When I found out I was having a kid I was 22, addicted to drugs, in and out of rehab with no place to live.”

“Everyone said we should get an abortion,” he further shared. “I’m really glad I didn’t listen.”

At a very young age, with no place to live, he found out he was going to be a father.

Then he continued testifying, “I entered rehab for the last time 2 days after he was born and never went back. Kid completely changed my life.”

Life With His Beloved Son

The young man also shared a screenshot of their exchange text messages between him and his son saying “I love you” to each other.

When I found out I was having a kid I was 22, addicted to drugs, in and out of rehab with no place to live. Everyone said we should get an abortion.

He wrote, “When he was 8 I still didn’t have any money but managed to save up enough to take him to Disney World. Was just me and him. Best buds.”

He also shared a photo with his son standing in front of the famous Cinderella Castle.

“So I just wanted to say that I feel like the luckiest man in the world,” he said. “Thanks for listening.”

A follow-up tweet revealed his family picture with the sunset behind them.

His story immediately went viral with followers praising the young man for sharing his story.

Testimonies

One follower also testified that she chose life, sharing a video of her baby. She said, “No one wanted me to have him but me..”

“Stuff brings me to tears,” another wrote. “I was an alcoholic druggie in tons of debt. Completely quit drinking and using the day my son was born and been building a little pile of money for my family ever since. Needless to say everyone recommended abortion or abandonment. Literally everyone.”

Thank God for this real-life story that is making a difference on social media. It has been a challenging journey but God is greater than our struggles.

In an episode of A Life You Love with host Renee Evans, Jenessa Wait shares how God called her to do missions through social media and her gift of creativity. Jenessa began her hand-lettering journey in 2015 when she heard the voice of the Lord whispering to her to try that form of art. What started as a hobby quickly became a successful online business and a platform for missions.

With the success of her art business, the young pastor in Austin, Texas, also began to use her art to share hope and the Gospel to this generation.

“I know my generation, the millennial generation, is so hungry for truth and for people to share the good news of Jesus. And they’re just hungry for identity,” Jenessa said. “So being able to use that platform [Social Media] to really speak into that and through creativity, which I love so much, has been such a fun process for me.”

Creativity & Social Media

The young mom also encouraged other artists to keep on creating art out of who they are in Christ. A lot of artists struggled to create arts according to the liking of the people, however, God doesn’t want you to create art for people. God wants you to create art for His glory.

“I never ask you to create for people, for the purpose of filling their need. I’ve asked you to create out of the overflow of who you are. Just like the boy who gave the fish and the loaves and Jesus took that and He multiplied it and He said, ‘Just give me what you have, just give what you have and I will multiply it and I will take it further than you could ever have thought possible.”

New Report Finds Facebook and Other Social Media Giants Fail to Stop Antisemitism

A recent study by the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) found that the major social media platforms—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok—failed to tackle antisemitism on their platforms letting hate prevail almost 84 percent of the time.

For six weeks (May 18 to June 29)—during and immediately following the recent war between Hamas and Israel—CCDH flagged 714 posts for review for their antisemitic nature. Those posts on the various platforms had 73 million impressions. The group said that content was removed or accounts deleted in less than one in six cases. Their Failure to Protect report was released Friday.

“This is not about algorithms or automation; our research shows that social media companies allow bigots to keep their accounts open and their hate to remain online, even when human moderators are notified. No one has a fundamental right to have an account on a social media platform to bully Jews or to spread hatred we know can end in serious offline harm,” Imran Ahmed, CEO of CCDH, said.

I don’t know much about this gentleman, but he definitely has an Arabic/Muslim name. God bless him for standing up for the Jewish people!

The US-UK nonprofit group said the posts contained Holocaust denial claims, blood libel accusations, racist cartoon drawings of Jews, neo-Nazi propaganda, and antisemitic claims about “Jewish puppeteers” controlling the world. Facebook acted on only 10.9 percent of the CCDH complaints (the lowest response), and YouTube took action on 21.2 percent of the posts (the highest response).

Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube released statements saying they were working to end the antisemitic environment online. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, did not offer a direct comment.

“Current efforts by tech companies to moderate their platforms are clearly inadequate,” the CCDH report concluded. The organization recommended several actionable steps for the social media companies: hire and train moderators who specialize in targeting antisemitism and other hate speech, financially incentivize proper moderation of content, ban groups dedicated to antisemitism, and take action against antisemitic hashtags.

Israel Uncovers Iranian Intelligence Attempts to Kidnap Israelis with Social Media Bait

The Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) and the Mossad have uncovered an operation through which Iranian intelligence operatives attempted to lure Israelis to travel to various countries abroad to harm or abduct them, the Shin Bet revealed Monday.

Iranian intelligence set up fictitious profiles on social networks and made contact with Israelis who have international commercial contacts and who travel abroad.

The fictitious accounts include Instagram profiles of women who were seemingly engaged in business and tourism.

These profiles made contacts with Israeli civilians, coordinated meetings with them abroad and attempted to draw them into romantic or commercial meetings.

Iran is known to carry this kind of activity in various countries with links to Israel and with Israelis, including Arab and Gulf countries, Turkey, and countries in the Caucasus, Europe and Africa.

This pattern of action is well-known and is similar to that previously used by Iran against opponents of the regime in Europe. Iran is currently using similar methods against Israeli citizens seeking to develop legitimate commercial ties in the aforementioned countries and regions, the Shin Bet warned.

“There is genuine concern that such activity by Iranian operatives could lead to attempts to harm or abduct Israelis in those countries in which Iranians are active,” the Shin Bet cautioned.

“The security services call on Israelis with overseas commercial contacts to be alert and aware regarding social media contacts from unknown profiles and to avoid contact with them,” it concluded.

“America’s Next Top Model” contestant warns women from the devil’s distraction and urges them to honor God with their time spent on social media.

Leah Darrow joined the hit reality show “America’s Next Top Model” in 2004. Since then, she had made a name in the fashion industry. After her elimination from the show, she had a successful modeling career in New York City. Leah seems to have it all, however, God has called her for something else.

In 2005, she had an unexplainable encounter with God during one of her shoots. While in a middle of a photoshoot, she saw herself standing before God with empty hands. The model knew that God was calling her for something greater. She immediately walked out of the shoot and never returned.

The former model dedicated her life to God. She is now a wife, a mother of six, bestselling author, app creator, and a public speaker. Leah has a driving passion to inspire women to do something beautiful with their lives.

That being said, she created a social media app where women could pray with one another, build a sisterhood and find their identity in Christ.

“I wanted women to have a place where they could ask honest questions about the faith and not be torn down and get responses,” Leah said in Abby Johnson’s hit podcast. “I wanted women to have a place where they would have sincere, a true spiritual formation that’s geared toward women.”

Leah then continued to urge women to be “very, very protective of the time that we spend on social media and what we’re allowing into our life.”

She also warned women that the enemy is using distraction to lose sight of our purpose in Jesus Christ.

“One of the best tactics that the devil, that evil has, is a distraction,” she added. “To distract us with what somebody else says, to distract us with being offended, and even distract us with our passions, with our feelings. We have to keep them. It is challenging and it is a constant thing. But if we don’t, we will lose peace, and we will lose … our vision and our purpose of what Christ is calling us to do.”
