Neal also shared his faith in God and how it humbles him whenever he reflects on how much God had blessed him.
“God has given me so much and has blessed me with so much,” he said. “That it’s nice to play characters like this that take me out of me for a moment. And realize.. I’m so fortunate to be the person that I am. And surrounded by the people that God has surrounded me with.”
Refusing Sex Or Kiss Scenes
To Neal, acting is his passion. That’s why he is the “second happiest” in front of the camera because his first happiest place is with his wife, Ruve McDonough.
In 2010, a show allegedly fired the actor for refusing to play roles with sex scenes. He also avoids roles with kissing scenes “on-screen.” And for that reason, he gets to play as a villain instead. But for him, it’s fine as long as he won’t compromise his values.

“I have to play a lot of villains, because I won’t do certain scenes, and that’s fine,” he explained. “I’ve loved my career getting to play Damien Darhk for all these years, getting to play all these other villainist characters ‘cuz it … makes me realize even more how much God has given me.”
Neal is also committed to being a loving husband and father to his family. But above all, he is committed to growing his faith in God and himself. That’s what he realized from “Left Behind.”
“Believe in yourself, believe in yourself wholeheartedly and know that God has your back,” he said. “Those are the tenets that we kinda live by in our house. People are gonna say horrible things about you… tempt you with horrible things.. gonna throw everything off.”
Then the actor concluded that we should “turn to the Lord despite all these things.”
