A man who traveled from Alabama to Kentucky lists 10 observations he witnessed in Asbury Revival.
Asbury Revival
Rob Jackson, a son of a pastor in a church in Frankfort, witnessed the revival that happened in Asbury in 1970. That revival spread to 130 campuses around the United States and it has changed many lives. He was one of those who were changed by that revival. Upon hearing that another revival is currently happening in the same Christian college, he knew he had to witness it again.
Rob Jackson
He arrived at Asbury University on February 13 and he witnessed a great movement of the Lord in that place. It’s like the revival that happened 53 years ago is again happening today. Rob listed 10 observations he had from the Asbury Revival:
1. People are coming.
Many Christians from other parts of the United States are traveling to Kentucky to experience the revival.
2. Word is spreading.
Everyone who experienced the revival has the desire to spread the news to others.
3. There is much anticipation.
Three chapels have been filled with people longing for revival and there’s a long line waiting outside of Hughes Auditorium.
4. It is led by students.
In the days-long revival movement, young students can be seen worshipping the Lord, sharing their testimonies, and ministering to one another.
5. It is spontaneous.
A revival event can be planned by us, humans, but we can’t control the true revival that God is bringing.
6. There is a beautiful balance of order and freedom.
Thousands of people gathered in that place are kneeling, praying, and crying out to God at the same time but there’s still peace and unity. Everything is being done in an orderly manner.
7. Time seems to slow down.
People who are taking part in this revival have all experienced that time seems to move at an unusual pace. Rob remembered kneeling for hours and the next thing he knew, it was already 11 PM.
8. Worship in song is powerful and with much joy.
Even though there were no popular worship leaders on the stage, the worship is so powerful. And everyone who is there worshiping is full of joy.
9. Christ is exalted.
The name of Jesus is being lifted up the entire moment. Jesus is being exalted and honored for days.
10. God is moving.
The manifest presence of God can be felt by everyone. Lives are being transformed, there is a spirit of repentance.
Worldwide Revival
Rob drove back to Alabama with a desire to see that true revival spread to every nation. This kind of revival can transform lives and can transform an entire nation. The world needs Jesus right now, let us pray without ceasing for this kind of revival to happen in our own country, in our own city.
