While filming, producers of Jesus Revolution have spoken that “there’s moments of miracles whenever you make a film.”
Producers of Jesus Revolution Film
Ranked as third at the Box Office Hits, Jesus Revolution is co-filmed by directors and producers who sought God while filming the movie.
The Erwin Brothers, a filmmaking pair, include Jon Erwin as one half. The popular films I Can Only Imagine, Woodlawn, October Baby, and Mom’s Night Out were all produced by Jon and Andrew. But, it has taken Jon seven years to bring the narrative of Jesus Revolution, his most recent picture, to the big screen.
“This project has taken many twists and turns. It’s the longest I’ve ever worked on a movie,” Jon told CBN News’ Studio 5.
“My hope is people enjoy the movie. And we want to make you laugh and cry. But there really is a movement behind this movie.”

Jon shared that it originated from the time he read one of the issues of Time Magazine.
He told CBN News, “I bought this seven years ago, and read this article. And then I bought this one as well. First cover of Time without a picture. And that was my very question. What happened in between these two magazines? This bleak statement and then this psychedelic Jesus. And something was happening so undeniable in American society that Time Magazine had to give it credit with a cover story, as did Life Magazine and Look Magazine.”
Moments of Miracles
On a recent interview with CBN News, one of the producers, Kevin Downes, said, “There’s moments of miracles whenever you make a film. Obviously, the entire process. But this one had miracle after miracle, where we really felt and sensed God’s presence throughout the entire process.”
One of the miracles was when veteran actor Kelsey Grammer agreed to play Calvary Chapel Pastor Chuck Smith.
Kelsey said, “I was having a late night and I was thinking I want to do something that has some value, beyond just another role, something that I enjoy playing. And the very next morning, this script was delivered to my house.”
Jon Erwin, one of the producers of Jesus Revolution said in an interview with Think Eternity that he “witnessed a dozen movie extras and one actor make real-life decisions to follow Christ and get baptized during filming at Pirates Cove in Newport Beach, California.”
“I have never experienced the kind of spiritual power making something as in making this movie,” he added.
In a recent Instagram post, Andrew wrote in a caption:
“God is bringing revival. It’s happening guys. It’s bigger than one group or a movie. It started at Asbury and has spread to 28 college campuses now. No super stars. No one can take credit. It’s His church spreading the good news to the broken. What a special night at @markburnett13 @romadowney house with other believers in the artist community… actors, filmmakers, musician, writers, many different types asking Jesus to do it again! Mark stopped in the middle to pray for what God is doing and that @jesusrevolutionmovie would be a part spreading it. Humbled to see God’s spirit move and know it’s so much bigger than any of us. A movement is coming y’all… a revolution. #jesusrevolution”
Revival is indeed in the air, and God is stirring up the hearts of His people. Don’t miss your portion and those “moments of miracles!”
