Korean War Veteran Reunites With His Long Lost Japanese Love After 70 Years

A Korean war veteran had prayed for 70 long years to reunite with his lost love, a Japanese woman. After searching far and wide, the woman was never far all along. She was only miles away from him.

Duane Mann was 21 when US Navy stationed him in Japan in 1954. There, he met a local named Peggy Yamaguchi. It was no longer than six months that the two fell in love and wanted to get married as soon as possible.

But, the Navy decided to discharge Duane in his position and ordered him to return to the US earlier than agreed. So, the veteran had no choice but to promise Peggy that he would send for her.

When he arrived home, he found out that his father had spent all his savings. He also thought Peggy did not write him letters, only to discover that she did. But, his mother burned the letters because she did not want her son to marry a Japanese woman.

The last letter he finally received contained Peggy’s farewell. She informed him about how she lost their baby and was wedded to another man.

The news devastated Duane. “This girl thinks I abandoned her,” he shared.

The anticipated reunion

The two went on their ways and had families on their own. But, Duane did not lose hope in finding Peggy so he could explain what really happened. “I prayed that I would be able to do that face on face,” he said.

Now 91 years old, the war veteran turned to Facebook to search for Peggy one last time.

Theresa Wong, a researcher for History Channel, was the key to the much-awaited reunion. Apparently, Theresa saw the article in Daily Press dated 1956 where it featured Peggy with her new last name, Sedenquist.

Peggy married a US Airforce and has been living in Michigan since, just states away from Duane all this time.

They finally got each other’s contact numbers, and the moment Duane had hoped for finally came true. He and Peggy recently met at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, MI. They hugged, laughed, and shared their memories.

“I’m here to tell you that I didn’t abandon you at all. I just couldn’t find you,” Duane told Peggy.

“Thank you for remembering and [saving] all the pictures; you must have loved me,” Peggy replied.

Missouri Deputy And Son In Emotional Reunion After 4-Month Deployment In Afghanistan

A Missouri deputy sheriff surprises his son with his homecoming after being deployed for Afghanistan, and it was an emotional reunion for the father and son!

Veterans Day is here again, a day that the United States honor military veterans for their sacrifices and service to protect the nation. Thus, heartwarming homecoming videos of militaries are flooding the internet. But one recent video of a deputy sheriff surprising his son with his return touched the hearts of over five hundred thousand.

Missouri Deputy And Son Emotional Reunion

In a video shared by ABC 13 – WSET, Deputy Sheriff Clint Thomas and his little boy had an emotional reunion. He came from Bagram, Afghanistan, to serve with the United States Airforce. Hence, he was away from his family for four months.

At first, the son did not know. The video footage showed that the deputies in a police car pretended to stop the car his son was in. They pulled over, and one deputy acted talking with the sheriff’s wife. But the son did not know that his dad was coming to him.

Then Deputy Sheriff Clint looked through the window and said, “What’s up dude?”

While playing with a gadget, he simply smiled. But when he realized it was his dad, he immediately climbed out of the car’s window and tightly embraced his dad. The little boy cried and stuck his head on his dad’s chest while tightly hugging him like a koala stuck on a tree. And for an extended period, the son did not let go of his dad.

“Welcome home, Clint!” The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office wrote.

After a 4-month deployment with the U.S. Air Force in Bagram, Afghanistan, it is evident that the two have missed each other a lot. Indeed, watching them is heartwarming.

Paramedic Son Surprises Elderly Dad In An Emotional Reunion At Hospital

In a time like today, where the pandemic crisis often forces families not to see each other, a reunion has become an emotional and treasured moment for everyone.

In a post by Pafford EMS Mississippi, a 73-year-old man and his son had an emotional reunion after a long time of not seeing each other.

A Surprise

Will LaGrone, a Pafford EMS Paramedic, apparently had his father admitted to the hospital after a terrible car accident. But to fight the spread of COVID-19, the hospital restricted anyone from visiting patients. Hence, for several weeks, the elderly man had to be apart from his family. He was all alone in his room when one day, the paramedics came. And the sweet father never thought it would be a tearful moment for him.

According to Pafford EMS Mississippi, Will made an arrangement with the management to “be the one to transport his father to rehab from the hospital in Shreveport.” He wanted to surprise his father in Louisiana. So, when he came inside the room and removed his mask, the father recognized him and both hugged each other.

Emotional Reunion

“As you can see Will’s father was overcome with emotion. We are honored to share these photos of the emotional reunion of father and son,” the emergency rescue service wrote.

The 73-year-old dad was immediately brought to tears. Further, he stroked his son’s head and held him tightly saying, “my baby boy.”

Then Will, later on, responded with an “I love you” to his father. And his dad held his face with his hand.

The touching father and son reunion inspired thousands of viewers. Some described it as “True unconditional love,” while others admitted it made them cry.

This was indeed a heartwarming moment. It’s the best thing a child could ever give to his elderly father. This is what you call family!

Pastor Sam Collier shared his personal story of how God has redeemed him. He believes that amid the struggles, God is always at work. And He has a more beautiful story awaiting each of His children.

“God is still in the miracle business. He wants to give you peace, to give you joy, to bring restoration, to bring healing.” Collier said, “He wants to bring blessings into your life. He can take a mess and turn it into a miracle if you let Him.”

In an interview with Christian Post, Pastor Collier talked about his new book, A Greater Story: My Rescue, Your Purpose, and Our Place in God’s Plan. He shared how he and his twin sister were born into extreme poverty. Their 21-year-old mother had to place them into adoption because of the difficulties she faced.

Eventually, a Christian couple took them into their family. Pastor Collier recalled that the adoption lady apparently discouraged their foster parents from taking them. “They’re probably not going to be much because of where they come from; crack, prostitution, and all types of things,” Collier said.

He continued, “My parents said, ‘No, we want these babies. My adoptive parents had formed a prayer closet. And while praying, God told them that we were their kids and that we would be OK. They decided to listen to the Lord’s voice, and they adopted us.”

And they had a wonderful childhood. But when Collier was 25 years old, his father convinced him to meet his biological mother. “He said, ‘You know what, you could grow up one day and marry your cousin, and you would never know it,’” Collier said in a jest.

So, they went to appear on The Steve Harvey Show when the production team offered their help in the reunion. “We reunited with our mother, Eleanor, on national TV,” Collier said. “It’s still an emotional moment for me to watch because in that moment, I didn’t know what to feel.”

God is always doing something bigger

But Collier believes that through all the struggles and challenges in life, “God was always doing something bigger and better than I could’ve imagined, even when I couldn’t see it.”

“There will always be challenges,” Collier continued. “The question is, what are you looking at? We have to manage our challenges, but we also have to pursue the opportunities that are in front of us. We have to find God working in the story. It’s not about the cards you’ve been dealt. It’s about how you play.”

He concluded, “COVID-19 is happening, racial tension is at a high. But there’s a greater story available for all of us. No matter where you come from, or what your circumstances are, you don’t have to be a victim. Your choices every day will ultimately determine what you become, with the help of God. God can still do great work even in the midst of struggle.”
