A Christian woman resented God for all the bad things that had happened in her life. She turned her back on her faith, but God never gave up on her.
Growing Disappointment
Rhoda Deal grew up in a Christian home. For that reason, she knew Christian values and had great expectations for her life. But her disappointment grew when life didn’t turn out how she expected it to be.

At 17, Rhoda began questioning God when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two years later, she divorced her childhood sweetheart, who left her after giving birth to their first child. At that point, Rhoda felt abandoned by God. Then, at the age of 22, she started thinking about ending her life.
Rhoda tried to ask for help because of her depression. Sadly, no one helped her. Consequently, she turned to drugs, chain-smoking, and alcohol to cope with the pain. She also remarried; however, it did not turn out well again, and she went through another divorce the second time around.
Resenting God For All The Bad Things In Life
Resentment entered Rhoda’s heart. She got angry at God for all the bad things that had happened in her life. Amid all the mess, her mother’s cancer worsened. A few months later, she passed away. That’s when Rhoda’s feelings of rejection intensified, and she began to think that God wasn’t real.
“I hadn’t seen God do anything for me, so He’s not real, where is He at?” she questioned at the time.
One day, when Rhoda reached her breaking point, she looked up to God again. She listened to the nudging in her heart, telling her to come back to God. She cried out and asked for God’s forgiveness.
“I knew that now, that it wasn’t Him that left me,” she remarked. “It was me that left Him.”
