In this inspirational story, a former alcoholic who was fighting addiction found redemption through the power of Jesus Christ.
Former Alcoholic
Doreen Perez came from New York City’s Bronx. She struggled with “alcoholism, lust, and sexual abuse” when she was young.
She wanted to be free, and Pastor Daniel Adams was able to pray for her.
He testified to how the Lord changed him.
“Listen, Doreen. No matter how bad you messed up, no matter how.. Look, I’m telling you I ain’t scared of what anybody thinks of me. I’m an ex-adulterer. I failed horribly in ministry. They say I’m horrible. People wrote me off saying I could never become anything ever again. And you know what God did? Oh, He restored me. And He made me much better than what I used to be.
“Sometimes we gotta make some really stupid mistakes ‘cause our heads are too hard. And then what happens is out of the ashes comes beauty. Beauty from ashes! The beauty of God is going to come out of it,” he said.
Former Alcoholic, Redeemed
Doreen was just standing and listening, but the words he said next brought her to tears.
“It doesn’t matter. I felt like the Lord told me to tell you that again.”
“It doesn’t matter.”

“He doesn’t see you as the person you see yourself as. He can’t even look at you the way that you look at yourself. Because when He looks at you, all He sees is that blood-bought precious gift.
“This is what sin does to us. It takes us out of remembering who we are. See, when we sin, it condemns us. It brings guilt, shame, and condemnation to our lives. And then eventually, when we try to battle in between these two worlds, we’ll go, “Well, I’m just going to end it all because I’m not good enough,”” the pastor said.
At that point, Doreen knew God was speaking to her.
Let God Fight For You
He continued talking to Doreen.
“But you were never meant to be good enough. Jesus was. He’s good enough for you. I gave up trying to be good enough a long time ago. So, you should, too.
It’ll hurt because your heart’s been attached in the wrong way. It’s been attached to something, and you just don’t know how to let go.
Today, I believe the Lord will empower you. After I release this over your life, you’ll be able to let go of what you never thought you would.”
“No matter what we think we’re going through, He always comes and brings us through. Why won’t you let God fight for you now? You can just go ahead and give up. Your feet brought you here because you’re tired. You need a Savior. You need Jesus.
Caught On Camera, Devil Resisted After Being Cast Out
Seeing that Doreen was willing to accept Jesus, then he prayed for her.
“Praise God that you are willing and humble enough to stand up here and allow Jesus to be who He’s supposed to be in your life. It’s these walks that change people. A lot has been taken from you. God’s going to avenge you though. Your purity will be restored,” he said.
Then, Pastor Daniel led her to receive salvation: “Jesus, save me. I need You. I can’t do it without You. Release me from the darkness I’m trapped in. From the darkness of my yesterday, and cause me to walk in glory where Your love is forevermore. Holy Spirit, help me out now. In Jesus’ name.”
Doreen fell, and the demonic torment was gone!
