When facing disappointment, our hearts can lead us in two different directions: towards the love of God or away from it. It’s vital that, despite our pain or discouragement, we choose to stay present with the Father, allowing Him to lead our hearts. His word promises that when we place our hope in Him, we will be renewed with strength.
“but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31)
What is your heavenly Father saying?
It’s so easy to let others, or even your own thoughts, lead you when facing disappointment. The truth is that Father God’s voice should be the foundation for the entirety of our lives. When we tune into what He is saying, we know our hearts are in the safest place they could be.
Disappointment can come in different ways. Maybe it’s concern with the season of life that you’re in–wishing it were different. Or maybe it’s finding out you didn’t get the job, relationship, or expectation you wanted. It’s impossible to avoid facing disappointment in our lives. Because of this, we have the choice to acknowledge, confess, and receive healing so that our hearts don’t fester in discouragement.
Facing disappointment opens our hearts to know lasting satisfaction
Because we experience disappointment, our hearts may know what true satisfaction is. Experiencing disappointment cannot be avoided, but we do take comfort in the fact that it’s because of the fullness of a life in God that we have more to hope in than our current circumstances. Outwardly, we are wasting away, but inwardly, we are being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16).
“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:8)
Father God, comfort this reader’s heart to know your nearness within the disappointment that they are facing
