A man who struggled to earn God’s love was set free after God delivered him from aa religious mindset.
Earning God’s Love
James Nixon grew up in a broken home. And although he grew up going to church, he was taught that he needed to earn the love of God. So, as a child, he thought God was always mad at him.

Later, at 12 years old, James resorted to drugs as a way to cope with his struggle. He wanted to fill the void and emptiness he felt in his heart through it. Further, in all of it, he “yearned for a spiritual connection.” That’s when his mom introduced him to Freemasons.
James joined the Freemasons. The group believes they are their own God and don’t need Jesus to find their way back to God. As a result, he “continued using drugs, stealing, and committing other crimes.”
Turning Point
Until one day, authorities arrested the teen James for his crimes. It was 2005 when he finally woke up to the reality.
“I remember having such an open conscience because it was either be in jail or prison the rest of my life, or I’m going to end up dying on drug overdose,” James recalled.

At that point, he realized the wrong choices he made in his life and wanted to change. And the next thing he knew, God was reaching out to him by sending people his way in the next few months.
Delivered From Religious Mindset
Inside the jail, some people began to invite James to church. He left the Freemasons group and stopped using drugs. In church, James realized his dire need for a Savior. Then, he accepted Christ on February 2, 2005.
James became a zealous follower of Jesus. However, “the belief he had to earn God’s love” remained in him. As a result, his religious mindset often strained his walk with God.
But watch how God delivered him.
