God’s Word For You Today: Take Refuge In Me

Today’s Verse

“In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
    let me never be put to shame;
    deliver me in your righteousness.
2 Turn your ear to me,
    come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
    a strong fortress to save me.
3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
    for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
    for you are my refuge.
5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
    deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.”

(Psalm 34:1-5)

Today’s Message

God is our refuge and strength. He is our fortress in times of trouble! When we encounter traps, deceit, and other evils, he keeps us free from harm. Do you live with fear in your mind? Afraid of warfare from the enemy? There is good news, friend: in Christ you are victorious! You no longer need to live a life or inside mindsets that keep you focused on darkness. Instead, knowing you have a firm, secure foundation in Jesus, you can trust his faithful deliverance. We are praying for you, at the GOD TV team, that any area where fear has crept in will be obliterated. We bless you with the strength of Christ’s strong arms to protect every part of you. Be blessed, this week, as you move about your days. Knowing you are covered by God. In Him, is your refuge!

God Is Your Safe Place

To take refuge in God means to trust Him fully as your protector, provider, and deliverer. David describes God as a rock of refuge and a fortress—imagery that speaks of strength, safety, and permanence. When the world feels uncertain, you can trust that God will never fail you. He invites you to hide in Him, to rest in His presence, and to rely on His faithfulness.

He Hears and Responds

David’s cry—“Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue”—reminds us that God listens. Not only does He hear, but He responds. God’s guidance is not distant or delayed; He is near and attentive. He knows every trap, every fear, and every burden weighing on your heart, and He stands ready to lead you out and lift you up.

Commit It All to Him

David’s final line in this passage—“Into your hands I commit my spirit”—is an ultimate act of surrender. When you place your life in God’s hands, you are entrusting yourself to the One who is completely faithful. That kind of trust brings peace and power, even in the midst of hardship.

Be Encouraged Today:

You are never alone. No matter what you face, God is your refuge. Let His strength be your shelter, and His faithfulness your foundation. Take refuge in Him today, and find the calm, courage, and confidence your heart needs to endure and overcome.

Put Into Action

Here are some practical prompts to help you experience God’s presence as your refuge and source of strength:

Seek God as your refuge: In moments of great trouble, turn to God as your safe haven. Run to Him with your fears, anxieties, and burdens. Take refuge in His presence, knowing that He is a shelter and fortress for your soul. Spend intentional time in prayer, pouring out your heart to Him and finding comfort in His loving embrace.

Rest in God’s strength: Recognize that God is the source of your strength. In your weakness, His strength is made perfect. Surrender your own efforts and rely on His power to sustain you. Draw close to Him through worship and meditation, allowing His strength to renew and empower you.

Practice surrender and rest: Learn to surrender your troubles and concerns to God, releasing the need for control. Rest in His sovereignty and trust that He is working all things together for your good. Let go of the weight of worry and allow His peace to fill your heart and mind.

God is your refuge and strength, always near in times of great trouble. May you find solace, strength, and peace in His loving presence. Trust in His faithfulness, lean on His strength, and let Him be your unwavering source of help.

In a recent video uploaded on John’s YouTube channel, he discussed Proverbs 30:5 to encourage everyone to take refuge in God’s Word.

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5

When life gets challenging, many tend to find refuge in things that take the edge off. When a problem arises, the first thing we look for is someone to talk to or something to make us forget about what’s happening. But the truth is, our refuge can only be found in God.

“I’m telling you, brothers and sisters, it’s the reason you’re so stressed out… If you’re a little stressed out and you don’t feel peace in your heart, and God promised me peace but I’m not feeling it, it just might be because you are not trusting the Word of God like you ought.”

Every word of God is true. No matter how we feel about His Word, everything in it is true and His Word is a shield for those who take refuge in it.

“Is it possible that the Word of God is true even if you don’t feel like it’s true? Yes… If I trust the Word of God, I know that He is going to be a shield because that’s how you take refuge in Him.”

Whenever we’re faced with difficult situations, take refuge in His Word and surely, there you’ll find peace beyond your understanding.

“When we’re being attacked, when we are scared when we don’t know what to do with our job, we don’t run to the Word of God and prayer… and trusting the Word of God. What do we do? We run to someone else… I run to my wife, I run to my pastor… Maybe it’s even worse, maybe we don’t even run to a person, we run to a thing that is not good for you… I run to alcohol, I run to drugs… Whatever sin thing you think is going to satisfy you to give you what you need when what you need is actually in the Bible.”

Ukrainian Boy Smiles As New Classmates Hug Him After Escaping War

A Ukrainian boy was all smiles as his new classmates hug him after escaping the war to Spain.

In a video that is circulating the internet, some Spanish students are seen expressing love to their new Ukrainian classmates. It was a touching moment that shows how we should love each other, especially in times of hardships.

The little boy has just escaped the war-stricken Ukraine with his mother and his 3-month-old sister. They took refuge in the homes of their families living in Spain. Sadly, his father couldn’t escape the month-long war with his family as he has to remain in their land to fight against the invaders. It is under the martial law rules of Ukraine.

The video was taken at the CEIP Peru public school in Madrid. It was shared by Ukraine’s former ambassador to Austria Olexander Shcherba. As the teacher welcomed the little boy and introduced him to his new classmates, the students went up to him to hug him.

Classmates Hug Him

All the students in the classroom gathered to show him love and comfort. The little boy was surprised and soon gave a huge smile as he felt the warm welcome. Apparently, the teacher explained the boy’s situation to the other students, and their reaction was priceless!

Despite not being able to speak the Spanish language, the little boy adapted quickly and started making new friends. According to a family, he almost immediately started playing with the other kids. This will be a new start for this poor little boy who has been a victim of war at an early age. May his days ahead be filled with laughter, joy, and love.

Jerusalem – The Mount of Olives

The Mount of Olives – The Oil Press

The Mount of Olives is mentioned in scripture many times. Garden of Gethsemane is located on the Mountain itself and below it is the Kidron Valley. Gethsemane is derived from two Hebrew words – ‘gat’ and ‘shemanim’. Gat means “a place for pressing oil or wine” and   Shemanim means “oil”. During Jesus’ time, this is the place where the oil press would have been situated. Ray Vander Laan describes the process on his website That the WORLD may know:

“During Jesus’ time, heavy stone slabs were lowered onto olives that had already been crushed in an olive crusher. Gradually, the slabs weight squeezed the olive oil out of the pulp, and the oil ran into a pit. There the oil was collected in clay jars.”

There are few people, who upon visiting this historical site, can escape the huge spiritual significance of what the Garden of Gethsemane represents. Jesus’ final hours, prior to His arrest where spent there in prayer and agonizing before God. The location where he was betrayed and subsequently arrested. is extensively documented in all the Gospels.

Many using the analogy that Jesus was being pressed just like the oil press, except for Jesus it was the weight of the sins of the world upon His shoulders. His sweat dripped as drops of blood falling to the ground (Luke 22: 44).

Therefore to actually visit the place where all this occurred, is a deeply significant and spiritual experience.

A Place of Refuge 

Prior to His arrest and subsequent crucifixion, this was not just the only time that Jesus and his disciples sought refuge in the Garden or Mount of Olives. Nor is it the only time that this famous Mountain is mentioned in the bible. There are 12 references in the New Testament and there are at least two distinct references in the Old Testament:

In 2 Samuel 15:30 the bible tells us.

‘David continued up the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went’;

And in Zechariah 14:4

“On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.”

Therefore, it is hardly surprising that this hallowed place has become one of the most spiritually evocative locations on the planet.

The Definitive Landmark

Over the centuries, churches and monasteries have been built on the Mount of Olives. As you approach from the Damascus Gate route, you see before you the old caves – ancient burial sites. Here you get a real sense of the history of the place and what it would have looked like thousands of years before. Scattered trees adorn the mountain face. It isn’t until you turn the corner and met with the magnificent building referred to as The Church of All Nations. The church site dates back to a Byzantine basilica of the 4th century that was subsequently destroyed by an earthquake. It is instantly recognizable by its ornate painted front,

So what makes this church unique from any other? Well, the building is a Roman Catholic church, what makes it unique is that there is an ‘open altar’ located in the gardens nearby which is used by other believers from different denominations throughout the world. Therefore, not only is it unique, it is functional and totally integrated. The Mount of Olives derives its name from the olive trees that are grown there, but it is also a deeply sacred site for Jews for a number of reasons:

  • Firstly it is the main burial ground for Jews for over 3000 years.
  • It is also strategically positioned near the Kidron Valley which in the bible is referred to as the Valley of Jehoshaphat and when translated means ‘The Valley where God will judge.’
  • Known as the ‘King’s Valley’ to the east there are ancient burial sites containing the tombs of Absalom and Jehoshaphat and the tomb of Zechariah

The Sanctuary

In the Garden of Gethsemane you are immediately captivated by the haphazardly structured olive trees that almost look etched in pain. As they reach out towards the sky with awkwardly positioned branches, you think to yourself ‘if trees could talk, what could these trees tell us about that fateful night?’

Some people debate that any of the trees date back to the time of Christ, however, having seen them first-hand I would have to disagree. I am convinced some of these trees are extremely old, perhaps even older than 2000 years. What has been proved, however, is that each olive tree in the Garden has a  ‘genetic fingerprint’. What scientists have discovered is that eight of these trees are from the same lineage as the original ones that would have been in the garden dating back to the time of Jesus. 

One thing remains – Gethsemane is still a place of refuge, contemplation and soul searching over 2000 years later…it is also the location where Jesus Christ will return…

My Soul’s Treehouse

When I was a kid we had a treehouse at our camp up on a lake in New Hampshire. I was never that interested in the canoeing or swimming as much as I was in the peaceful solitude of that little tree house. It felt like a mountain retreat; my refuge; my secret place. Just me and my thoughts. I don’t have a tree house anymore but I DO have a place I go with all MY secrets. 

The definition of secret is: “Not known or seen or not meant to be known or seen by others; strictly confidential, top secret, classified, restricted, unrevealed.”

Deep pain in the depths of the soul is simply not shareable; not something you can even speak of. It’s probably a secret grief or pain or wound that you will carry out of this world, unspoken. Maybe a memory of loss, or abuse, or war, or the day you learned a painful truth that rocked your world, or the curse of someone’s vile words over you.

There is this ONE day in the year that I dread and hate above any other bad day. It holds a secret of my heart that no, I am not going to divulge. I am guessing most of us have a day that is set apart above all others as THE single most painful day of our lives.

Because I live through this day every year (my own Groundhog Day of sorts) I wondered if there was anything about this experience that I could have missed – something I could uncover or a way I could cope better. I wondered if I should share it in words. And I wondered if that would make it less painful.

I came up with a resounding NO. I just can’t. Nor can you.

And we all need to know that sometimes it is okay and has to be that way. It is a soul secret and requires us to go to the only secret place where we CAN find comfort for our soul!

Jesus is my refuge, my soul’s mountain retreat.

His presence with me is my adult tree house. I feel totally safe to fall apart at His feet every year on the same day; and then get up the next day and know that because I went to my secret place (my soul’s treehouse) I was NOT destroyed yet again. And that for me, is always enough.

Yes, the truth sets us free. I get that. But SOME truths are a excruciating burden that only God can understand and share with us. Which brings me to this point – if you find yourself with the calendar flipping to THAT particular horrible day or horrible memory, just know that God holds your heart and He alone understands your pain.  I don’t need an answer really – I’m way past that and there aren’t any – I just need to be held. I just need to be able to unravel a little in a safe place, and then get back to my life; get back to living.

 

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1)

 

We DO have a secret, safe place to go with our deepest secrets. He is always waiting with an OPEN sign 24/7. I am never rejected, or scorned, or misunderstood, or laughed at. I come as I am, frail and worn – and when I leave I am stronger and a little more whole.

“I will say of the LORD, ‘HE is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely He will save you (and me) from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.’” (Psalm 91:2-3)

 

If you ever see me just up and disappear for a bit, I’m just in my soul’s treehouse. I’ll be backkkkk!

God Is Our Refuge And Strength. Put Your Trust In Him

“Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” (Psalms‬ ‭62:8)

When times are hard put all of your trust in God. When things are going your way, put your trust in God. When things are turbulent around you, put your trust in God. In all seasons, put your trust in Him and He will guide your path. Your refuge is found in Him. When you follow His Word and allow His Word to penetrate your heart, the ground of your heart will be soften. When you trust God at all times, your fruit will mature through His Word. Seek Him – He is your refuge, shield and comfort. When the waves of life seem to overtake you, your hope is in Him. When you trust God, He will secure your path.

Give Every Part of Your Life To Him.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” ‭‭(Proverbs‬ ‭3:5‬)

When you give God every part of your life, even the dark areas, He will renew and restore you. He will shield you and cover you. When you give every broken area over to the Potter, He will rebuild you to reflect His image in every area. Trust in God’s Word, without doubt – in every area. Give every area over to Him. Don’t solely depend upon your own intellect and experience, He will lead and shape the way you think, walk and even speak. Give your entire heart to Christ, trust Him and He will lead and order your steps. When you lean upon your own understanding, your way of doing things, you’ll limit and sabotage your Destiny. The Destiny that God has set, established and ordered is prepared and ready for you to flourish in Him. It is your choice to either choose a flourishing life in Christ or wither away, wandering, searching for purpose – a spiritual death. Christ is the only way to The Father. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” ‭(John‬ ‭14:6‬)

Run To Jesus

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (Proverbs‬ ‭18:10)‬‬

When you accept Christ you have access to the Name, Power and Authority of Jesus Christ. When you are in Christ, every generational curse is broken, every demonic assignment is cast down and every occultist thing has no power or authority over you. When you are in Christ your past is history and through Him, you become a new creature. The old man and all its habits and appetites are passed away and, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬‬)

When you are in Christ, you are new, you are His. When you are in Christ, no one can separate you from the love of Christ. (Romans‬ ‭8:35‬‬) God’s Love for you is endless, ever abounding and ever reaching for you. When you are in His Love, He’ll Protect and keep you from every snare and trap of the enemy. You are covered by His Love. Run to His Love and He’ll Cover you completely. Rest in His Love, His Peace and Character.

Trust Him In The Valley

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalms‬ ‭23:4)

The valley is not a place of permanent habitation. It’s a season and a place you walk through. The valley wasn’t meant to destroy you, but strengthen and correct you. God is with you even in the valley. At the lowest points of your life, or even in dry seasons, God is with you. When you’re in a valley, a spiritual low point of your life, know that God is with you and He loves you tremendously. His Word is there to lead you, direct you and to correct you. Walk through the valley. Submit to His Word and learn from your mistakes, mishandlings and short comings. Allow God’s Word to heal you and make you Whole. Find refuge in God’s Correction.

The Wicked Has No Power

“When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.” (Psalms‬ ‭27:2)

Don’t focus on your enemies, Trust God. When the wicked, those who have set themselves against God, come to attack you – God will protect and take care of you. No enemy, no weapon that rises up against you shall prosper, they will stumble and fall. Every plan and trap of the enemy, will not flourish and succeed. When you are in Christ, you belong to Him. Surrender to and speak His Word faithfully, diligently and boldly. You are Christ’s Child. You belong to Him. Don’t worry about your enemies, focus on God. Don’t get distracted by the snares and traps secretly laid by the enemy, they will not prosper. Trust God and know that He is your protection and refuge. Christ is your strong tower and He has all Power and Authority over every demonic force, plan and trap that Satan tries to set in your path. Every plan and trap set, by the enemy, will stumble and fall. Have no fear, God is with you.

The Lord Will Carry You

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭27:10)‬‬

When others have forsaken you, God will carry you. When others have let you down, God will take you up. When your mentors fail you and those whom you have placed your trust in, forsake you, God will raise you up and keep you. The Lord will keep thee. Don’t worry about who is around you or who abandoned you – place your trust in God. He will keep you and never forsake you. When you place your Trust and confidence in Him, your heart path is secure. You are His and He’ll never leave you. He will not abandon you. You’re in His Hands – just trust Him. He’ll protect and heal your heart and keep you through the valleys. His Love Never fails.

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, simply say these words: Lord Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose from the grave, just for me. I repent of my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ’s Blood washes me and cleanses me from all unrighteousness. In Christ, I am a new creature. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus Name, Amen.

My prayer for you

Father God in the Name of Jesus, I thank you for my brother and sister who reads these words. I thank You for their life and God-Given Purpose. Lord, I thank You for leading their heart. Lord, I thank You that you are with them always and that you will never leave them or forsake them. Father, I thank You that their strength is in you. Father, I thank You that Your Love will overshadow and overtake them everywhere they go and in every season of their life. I pray, Father, that as my brother or sister reads these words that their hearts are transformed and that they draw closer to You. Father God, I thank You that you are with them even in hard times and through every valley. Father, I thank You that you will keep them and light their path even in dark times. Father, I thank You that your Word will lighten and direct their path. They are not alone but they are covered by You at all times. I thank You, Father, that you will guide and direct their steps all the days of their lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.
