Katy apparently struggled with her scoliosis since birth. And as she grew older, her condition got worse to the point she had to undergo surgery. So, she went through the procedure in 2015 only to come out with “a lot of pain.”
At that point, Katy often experienced “excruciating pain” that went on for years. Soon, her struggle led her to become depressed.
“It literally felt like a smoke cloud had just consumed my life,” the singer recalled. “I knew God was there. I knew he was in it with me. But I could not see Him.”

Trying To End Her Life
More so, Katy felt she was trapped in her own skin, and her depression became overwhelming. The pain and suffering had taken hold of her entire life, and she wanted to give up.
As a result, the Christian artist thought of ending her life by overdosing on pills. So, she reached for a bottle of pills and went to her bathroom. But before she could do her plan, the pills fell to the floor. Then she heard the Lord, “I’m not done yet. You need to hold on.”
Since that day, Katy found hope and held on to God’s Word despite the hopelessness. And it was only three years later that God gave her a miracle.
Katy underwent another life-threatening surgery to remove the metal rods and screws inside her body. After waking up, Katy saw “the light again for the first time.”
“That smoke cloud, it had parted and I knew Jesus was in that room,” she testified. “I knew that he had placed a purpose in my life. And I definitely do not mean making TikTok videos. I do not mean standing on the Grand Ole Opry stage. I mean that Jesus is within me and I live every day striving to be more like Christ.”
What a powerful testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness!
