Chazley Williams had to go through years of dialysis before she got a new kidney. Her life changed after receiving a kidney from an unlikely donor.
Receiving Kidney From An Unlikely Donor
Chazley Williams’ dream was to walk across the stage in her cap and gown one day. She already had her master’s degree in teaching. Chazley, who had just gotten married, was well on her way to getting her master’s degree from Regent University in the summer of 2019 when she got sick out of the blue.
She was told that her kidney cancer was in stage 4. A kidney transplant was immediately needed for her to survive, but it could take up to six years to find a matching donor. For now, she would have to go through 8 hours of dialysis every day to stay alive. She asked God to help her.
Losing Hope
“Honestly, I don’t think it really sunk in until I remember I was on my way somewhere and I couldn’t get shoes on my feet,” she said. I just remember sitting there crying and like my feet were swollen to the point where it hurt to touch the ground.”
The graduating student had to deal with daily therapy, schoolwork, a full-time job, and family life for seven months before she decided to take a leave of absence from school.

She finally told God everything and hoped that she would soon find someone who could give her a kidney. Chazley got an email from Dr. Ryan Mnin, one of her online professors, two weeks into the term. He just wanted to know if he could call her. She thought it was because of their class.
Woman’s Life Changed After Receiving Kidney From An Unlikely Donor
Before the call, Chazley told Dr. Mninn about her state. He gave her one of his kidneys without any thought.
“If somebody in my family needed something that I couldn’t give, would I be willing to give? And I would want somebody to step up if I was not willing to give. I figured this is an opportunity to help somebody,” the doctor said.
Dr. Mninn had already signed up and been checked as a kidney donor a few months before to help a young boy. Even though it didn’t work out, he was still ready to give up everything for someone else.
