Gospel singer Tasha Cobbs surprised everyone with her newest single “In Spite of Me,” featuring platinum-selling R&B artist Ciara.

Last week, Ciara announced to her 26 million followers the single collaboration with Tasha Cobbs. She wrote, “How good is it to know that God’s love is relentless.”

The song was released after Tasha’s new album Royalty: Live at the Ryman ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.

An Original Song By Tasha Cobbs

“In Spite of Me” is an original song by the Gospel singer which she had reimagined. The new version combines her powerhouse vocals with the angelic voice of R&B artist Ciara.

The song tells of God’s unconditional love for us. Its lyric says:

“You still Love me, In Spite of me
You still choose me
How can it be, every scar, every flaw
You see it all, you see it all
You still Love me, Love me
In Spite of me, In Spite of me”

Many were surprised that Ciara, the R&B artist took part in Gospel music. But in a statement shared with The Christian Post, Ciara expressed her gratitude to be part of a song instilled with hope. She said, “In times like these, I am super thrilled to be part of a song filled with messages of hope and inspiration that can be shared with the world.”

“I didn’t expect Ciara to be on this song. I saw the title but I thought it was another person name Ciara. It’s always good to see another artist in a different lane come over to worship the Lord,” commended a user on YouTube.

Moreover, Ciara took to Instagram a live performance of the Gospel song. In the video, she said, “How good is it to know that God’s love is relentless. That God loves us in spite of our flaws, He loves us through it all. Remember God’s not hard on you so don’t be hard on yourself.” Then she started singing her newly released song with Tasha Cobbs.
