A Christian couple, radically touched by God, made a radical decision to leave behind their possessions and serve orphans and widows in China.
Radically Touched By God
Mike and Deena Van’t Hul, a devoted Christian couple, valued instilling faith in their children. This desire prompted them to pursue a deeper connection with God. As they immersed themselves in reading the Bible, they recognized a stark contrast between their lives and the life of Jesus. A pivotal moment occurred when Randy Clark, the founder of Global Awakening, visited their church, leading them to experience a profound revelation about God.
“He looked like he so knew God… And at the end, he said, ‘If anyone wants more of God, it’s really simple. You just need to ask Him,’” Deena recalled.
Subsequently, the couple rushed to the altar in their hunger for more of God’s presence. Deena, in particular, started experiencing waves of God’s love surging through her body, profoundly impacting her. This encounter left them both radically touched by God. Randy Clark testified about what he saw, “When they got up, they were different. Just totally different.” Following this impactful encounter, the couple fully surrendered themselves to God.
Moving out to China
In addition, they made the courageous decision to abandon all their possessions and relocate to China. They transitioned from a life of abundance, where they could afford anything they desired, to a point where they found themselves in a hotel room, unable even to provide water for their baby. Nevertheless, despite the challenges they faced, they made a deliberate choice to place their trust in God.

“If this is how You see my life, and if this is why I was created. I’m telling You right now, I’ll never say no to You. I’ll follow You wherever You want me to go,” Deena uttered this prayer.
Within a mere 24 hours of uttering that prayer, Deena received an unexpected phone call from three Chinese Christian women inquiring about potential adoptive parents for a baby. This newborn child had been discovered in the mountains, and they believed that Deena and Mike could provide him with the care he needed. They expressed a sense of urgency as it had already been three days since the baby was found, dubbing this opportunity as their last chance.
Hidden Treasures Home
“In my heart, I feel afraid. The only answer is yes,” Deena recounted. Consequently, they made the resolute choice to nurture and care for the baby. As soon as Deena caught sight of the newborn, she gently unwrapped him and beheld his face. In her own words, she described a profound sensation akin to gazing upon Jesus Himself. It was a moment where she felt as though she was uncovering the very essence of God’s glory.
Since that time, the couple dedicated themselves to serving abandoned and vulnerable individuals. They selflessly emptied their bank account to acquire a three-story building in a small village in China, which they named Hidden Treasures Home. This establishment became a safe haven for orphaned children with severe special needs, as well as a place of refuge for widows and single mothers. Their unwavering commitment to God drove them to faithfully serve, spreading His incredible love among those they cared for.
