Lakewood megachurch Pastor Joel Osteen prayed in tears for a seven-year-old boy in critical condition after he got caught in the middle of a shooting incident inside the church.

Shooting Incident In Lakewood Church

On Sunday, Feb. 11, a saddening event unfolded between the services at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. A 36-year-old woman named Genesse Ivonne Moreno, who is believed to be mentally troubled, opened fire inside the church. She was with her seven-year-old son, Samuel Moreno-Carranza when she entered the church. Consequently, the little boy got caught amidst the gunfire exchange between the church’s security and his mother, resulting in injuries to him and another churchgoer in his 50s.

Unfortunately, the suspect died on the scene while the young boy was shot in the head. He was rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital and is currently in critical condition. According to The Christian Post, he “has very little brain activity.”

Pastor Joel Osteen Prayed In Tears

Later, Pastor Joel Osteen lifted the 7-year-old in prayers alongside the congregation. They grieved over what happened, and it brought the pastor to tears as he prayed.

“Lord … we lift up that little 7-year-old boy, Samuel, that was injured here, Lord, and [through] no fault of his own,” he prayed to God.

“Lord, we know you can do what looks impossible. Even though medical reports don’t look good, Lord, I know he’s in your hands. Lord, I thank you that his destiny for his life will come to pass, and Lord, that your mercy is upon his life. We just pray your healing and wholeness. And Lord, I pray for all the family of the deceased and the troubled woman, Lord.”

He also prayed for the deceased woman’s family: “Lord, I know she was troubled in her mind, but I know her family’s hurting. Lord, we know you’re in control. So I just pray for comfort for that family and just comfort for all those that are here. Lord, these are not tears of sadness but tears of your goodness and overwhelming.”

Then he thanked God for the protection of everyone and mentioned that nothing worse happened in the gunfire incident. He prayed, “Just Your grace and Your mercy protecting us all. Lord, we know what it could have been. But here we are, and Lord, like already declared, I think that Lakewood is strong and that You bless us with awesome people. And we’re moving from glory to glory, from victory to victory. In Jesus name, Amen.”

“Jesus, whoever has a lonely day or a lonely time,” the little girl prayed. “Or they just feel lonely all the time, or maybe just sometimes. I just want You to be with them and just tell them to be brave. And if they’re like, if it’s anything that they’re worried about or scared about, I just want you to comfort them and say, ‘it’s okay, I AM always with you.'”

The Kids Ministry

The Belonging Co Kids is the kids ministry of The Belonging Co church. They teach their children in church about the power of the Holy Spirit even at a very young age. Because the church believes that “there is no junior Holy Spirit.”

According to their website, the ministry aims to “empower kids in their faith to believe for the impossible, pray with authority and worship fearlessly!”

Further, they remarked, “TBCO Kids is way more than childcare while the adults have real church. We bring concepts down to kids’ levels developmentally but we take to heart where Jesus talks about the kingdom of Heaven belonging to the kids!”

With that said, the kids’ ministry partners with the children’s parents to achieve this goal. The goal is that even at a young age, they would already know Jesus so that their relationship with Him would become the very foundation of their life as they grow up.

They wrote, “We know that with a relationship with Him as their foundation, the sky’s the limit!”

Heart Stopped For 13 Minutes

The faith of Pastor Jim and his wife Pam was tested when Jim suddenly passed out while going for a walk outside. He had no pulse. And when the medical authorities arrived, they immediately transported him to the hospital.

Pam frantically called an elder of their church, and the Spirit impressed to him that Jim will live and not die. Hence, they declared God’s goodness despite the unfavorable circumstance.

Meanwhile, Jim’s heart stopped for 13 minutes. He fell into a drug-induced coma. According to Dr. Michelle Guzowski, the physician who attended to the pastor, it was dangerous. Because for every minute that a heart stops beyond a critical limit, you have decreased blood flow, leading to potential brain injury. Even if he survived, he could lose some normal abilities.

Grandchildren Pray

Amid Jim’s critical condition, over 100 church members gathered together to worship and pray. For three hours, they praised God and declared that “no weapon formed against him would prosper.”

Jim wasn’t responsive for days despite the doctor’s simulation. But the church continued to believe in God’s faithfulness and continued praying for him.

Until one morning, Pam received news that her husband had brain damage. Hence, Justin, their son, and grandchildren prepared to say goodbye to Jim because it could be the last time to see their grandfather. And when they visited Jim, the grandkids laid hands on him and prayed. Suddenly, he opened his eyes.

The whole room witnessed the miracle that even doctors and nurses cried about what happened. Everyone saw with their own eyes the miraculous power of God.

Jonathan was a Christian who had been praying for his family to encounter the Lord for many years. He specifically asked for his brother Taylor’s salvation. One day, Jonathan’s brother was in a horrifying accident in the middle of the night.

Taylor suffered from a severe cut “on his leg down into the bone.” The deep cut resulted in a lot of blood loss, and he was losing consciousness. When Jonathan received the news, he immediately prayed to God.

The following day, Jonathan received news that Taylor’s condition had worsened. At that point, Jonathan fought in prayer and cried out to God. He also messaged the prayer warriors to intercede for his brother’s life.

A Vision From God

Then all of a sudden, he saw a vision of Taylor’s hospital room.

“I saw a light figure come into the room,” he recalled. “I don’t know if it was the Lord or an Angel of the Lord, all I know is that I saw the shape of a human being. But they were pure light and they came into the room. And I knew they were bringing relief to my brother.”

Meanwhile, unknown to Jonathan, Taylor was also asking God for forgiveness at that moment. His brother told him what he had experienced amidst fighting for his life. Apparently, as Taylor was crying out to the Lord, repenting of his sins, “a comforting hand” touched his forehead.

“How humbling to know He has forgiven me and to know I was in His hands,” Taylor wrote in a message he sent Jonathan.

Whole Family Glorifies God

In the end, Jonathan’s family witnessed God’s miracle before their eyes.

“My whole family gave glory and credit to God,” he testified. “I fell on my floor in my office today at work and I wept before the Lord in gratitude. Because I’ve been waiting for over 15 years to have this kind of conversation with my brother and with my family.”

“God is still answering prayer. Jesus is still alive. His arm is not too short to save,” Jonathan remarked.

Katherine Thacker lost her dad, Brandon, at a very young age. He was a Kentucky law officer dedicated to serving his community. But one unfortunate encounter with a suspect in 1998 killed him while in the line of duty. It devastated his wife, Jennifer, when he discovered the heartbreaking news.

Meanwhile, Brandon’s daughter, Catherine, struggled with unforgiveness in her heart. Over the years of growing up, she resented the man who murdered her father. And she doubted God because of such tragedy.

“Why did God let my dad die?” she questioned. “If God is good, why’d He let the man who killed my dad do this?”

Hatred And Anger Consumed

Catherine had many questions to God. For that reason, she never opened up to Him. The rage inside her heart built a wall against Him. Later, Catherine noticed how unforgiveness negatively impacted her life. She then realized she had to do something, or else the pain and anger would soon consume her. So, she joined a Christian summer camp where she finally found the answer to the void in her heart.

In that one-week camp, Catherine experienced the love of God. She realized God was waiting for her to open her heart no matter how high the wall she had built for herself.

Soon after accepting Christ, the Holy Spirit began work in Catherine’s heart. God’s power nudged her heart to release forgiveness to the man who killed her dad.

Dawn Searock grew up in an abusive home. At an early age, she was verbally and sexually abused. As a result, she became suicidal even at eight years old. Then at 11 years old, she finally took the courage to report the abuses to the police station. And authorities sheltered the teen in a foster home.

Indeed, Dawn found someone and married him. They had two children. But far from what she had expected, her marriage soon crumbled. And after 13 years, the couple divorced, and she was left all alone at 32 years old.

Becoming A Heroin Addict

Following the failure of her marriage, Dawn fell into depression. And desperate to escape her problems, she started drinking heavily. Moreover, a man Dawn dated introduced her to heroin. These vices became her way to numb all the pain and suffering she had experienced.

Dawn blamed God for all the bad things happening in her life. By this time, she had become a full-blown drug addict. Dawn then began doing heinous things. It wasn’t long before she went behind bars for robbery.

The more Dawn went deeper into drugs, the more she hated herself. Until the time came, the police arrested her again and sentenced her to 18 months in prison. Then she met a woman she knew in the past who became a Christian. And when she saw her transformation, she began to get curious. So, she started reading the Bible.

After Dawn’s release, she became homeless. Later, she prayed for the first time out of desperation.

“God, I would do anything if You just show me the way,” she told God.

Then what happened next changed her life forever.

One Saturday, Hapeville Officer Rowe met Craig Magby, a Walmart employee, coming home from work walking. While the two talked with each other, the Officer found out that someone stole his bike when he went out to buy groceries one day. Since then, he has had no choice but to walk to and from home to work.

After losing his bike, Craig prayed to God about it. And God told him just to let go of it. That’s when Officer Rowe came his way.

Later on in their conversation, the Officer felt convicted to give his new bike to the theft victim. Apparently, he just recently purchased the bike. He knew he had to something after discovering Craig’s situation.

“When he told me his bike was taken from him I didn’t say anything to him,” he recalled. “But I immediately knew I was going to bring that bike to him, and give it to him in hopes he could use it.”

Soon after, Officer Rowe gave Craig his new bike without hesitation to replace the stolen one.

“When I saw something that I had that I wasn’t using, and there was somebody that desperately could use it every day,” he said. “I knew that I had to make that happen for him. It was just part of the way I was raised, the way I was brought up. To give back and to give where I can.”

Then Craig testified to God’s goodness and called the Officer “Godsend.” He credited everything God alone as he expressed his gratefulness on the blessing he received.

“I had talked to God about it,” he revealed. “He was like consider it done and he sent Officer Rowe my way. I’m grateful, thankful.”

This is exactly what the 3-year-old boy who went viral wanted.

On TikTok, a little boy’s recorded video by his mother went viral. It shot up to more than three million views. It blessed millions of viewers and also brought to tears to some.

The mom, Carla, told the story on social media when her son cried, asking for a younger sibling. In the video, the baby boy cried, requesting his mom to have more babies. He apparently wanted to have someone to love and play with. Then the mom wrote in the TikTok video, “everyday he would ask God..” And it broke the mother’s heart every time.

“My son cried every year since he was 3 years,” she wrote in the video. “I wasn’t ready for another baby but my son prayed everyday.”

God Answers

Then five years later, God definitely heard the 3-year-old’s sincere plea for a younger sibling. Carla finally conceived a baby girl.

The time skip that Carla recorded when her son held his baby sister for the first time was emotional. Now a big brother, he cried tears of joy at the hospital when his mom gave birth.

Today, the siblings often play together, and the big brother takes really good care of his little sister.

A TikTok user commented, “You blessed her with the best big brother anyone could ever want.”

Carla’s bio on social media revealed that God is first in her life. She wrote, “God is first in my life! Journey to finding myself while following Jesus.”

Doug Zirkle, a pastor, got into a car accident after going into a diabetic shock while driving. The impact broke his back, and caused brain bleeds. He was in critical condition. Meanwhile, Doug’s wife, Lisa, prayed and wrestled with God not to take her husband. She called friends and family to pray for her husband’s miraculous healing.

Then at the hospital, Doug’s condition turned for worse and doctors thought he wouldn’t survive. He underwent a five-hour surgery, and while in surgery his doctor wasn’t able to see anything wrong with his organs. Doug’s body started to respond and his condition stabilized. And Lisa credits prayer for his miraculous survival.

Although Doug survived the near-death experience, he faced another ordeal in needing surgery on his spinal cord. Following the surgery, he lost the ability to walk. But despite it, Doug continued believing for healing.

One of Doug’s major motivations for walking again was that he wanted to walk her daughter down the aisle on her wedding day. So, he made it his goal through prayer and diligently working hard at therapy.

And finally, after ten months, God answered the loving father’s plea. He was able to walk his precious daughter on the aisle on her special day. The family believes God made all things possible because of their persistent prayer.

Lisa testified, “It just really firmed up even more my beliefs that Lord, You’re in control.” Meanwhile, Doug affirmed, “The Lord was with me! I’ve never felt so assured of God’s Presence ever.”

In Stockton, California, a group of believers who were formerly drug addicts and gangsters reached out to the community. The group called Victory Outreach Church wanted to share the Gospel with everyone. Their goal is to bring Jesus to the broken and hurting community through their own testimony of how God changed them.

According to the report, the Christian organization was founded in 1985. And throughout the years, they have never stopped doing God’s mission to reach out to the lost. One of the masterminds behind Victory Outreach, Karlos Valazquez, said, “We reach out to drug addicts, convicts, gang members. The hurting, the lost, the abused, any and all people that our hurting.”

Further, the group believes that “there is hope through Christ for everyone.” And that is their driving force no matter what hurdle the ministry faces.

Praying For Officers

Vostockton posted the video in 2018. But until now, it continues to bless and encourage people to be unashamed of the Gospel.

Apparently, the caption’s video revealed that authorities sent cops to that area because of the evangelists’ presence. Perhaps someone has reported them because most volunteers are formerly drug addicts and gang members. But just when they thought the police would stop and shut them off, “God turned things around.”

“They loved our message and everything that was being spoken,” they wrote. “They even let us pray for them!!! Praise God!!! We ain’t stopping!!!”

In the end, the former drug addicts and gangsters who used to be sought after by the police prayed for them. They prayed for God’s protection over the officers and their families.

“Keep using them to model peace, model justice, and to model love,” uttered one evangelist who led the prayer.
