We can have things in our home that defile us and those need to be removed, that defile us and open us to the demonic. But our land and our home can also be a thing that needs to be cleansed. Let me explain. We bought a school house, an old school house that was a school house for about 50 years around the 1900’s, turn of the century. And when we were buying the property, we shared with some friends in our Bible study that we were doing that. And one of them blurted out, “I hope you pray over that property, because the people who lived there before you had a violent and vicious divorce.”
So that was a clue to us. Okay, God’s giving you a heads up. So we actually invited some friends and we just began to pray over the building and over the land where we were coming. And we forgave the people who lived there for their anger, hatred, violence; we forgave whatever the Lord showed us to forgive. And we blessed them. And then we commanded every spirit that was associated with their presence in that property and on that property to leave: anger, violence, hatred. I don’t remember the other ones, but whatever the Lord showed us, we took care of in the spirit. And we established this house as now dedicated to the Lord, to the Kingdom of God and to His purposes.
The other thing that we sensed in that building was that it had been a schoolhouse and that there was some grief associated with children who had experienced pain or trauma or broken dreams. So we prayed cleansing from that spirit of grief that was almost, if you will, in the walls of the building. And then the third thing was we prayed over the land, because a former tenant had been a tanner of hides eons ago. And actually, when we started digging in the flower beds, we discovered all these bones in there. And so we weren’t sure what the defilement was, but we just sensed that there was some defilement with that.
So all of that to say, that you can have property issues that need to be cleansed; land issues. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” It may not be anything you did in the property, but it could be something from a former owner or from something that defiled the land in the past.
Another short example. We moved into this most recent residence where we live now. And as soon as we walked in, I sensed strong hopelessness. So we actually forgave the former owner. We played worship music while we were transferring our things, 24/7, we played music day and night to bring cleansing. And we declared and established that house as belonging to the Kingdom of God.
So sometimes it’s important to recognize even going to a hotel room, pray cleansing when you first walk in. Because people and things and situations can open the door to the demonic, and you want your home to be a place of the Kingdom of God.
Let me pray for you. God, thank you for this one who is hearing my voice. And I pray that Lord, if there is anything associated with the land or the property where they are living currently, that you would open their eyes to see, give them discernment and give them understanding of how to pray. And I ask you to bless their home and bless their property and restore it to its full pristine Kingdom design. And I ask it in your name, Jesus. Amen.
