Why is waiting an essential part of our spirituality?
Waiting
As Christians, waiting is a part of life. We have been instructed by the Lord to be patient. But why are these seasons an essential part of our spirituality? The Bride Youth and Young Adults Ministry has a powerful answer to that question.
“Because waiting is where faith actually becomes necessary,” they posted on their Instagram account. “I mean think of it, a God of immediate gratification requires no faith. It’s in the waiting and the silence where faith actually develops.”

They also referenced the Lord’s resurrection and Thomas’ waiting to emphasize that silence never meant the absence of God. In seasons where the Lord seems silent, it doesn’t mean that the Lord is not with us. Remember that He will never leave you nor forsake you. These seasons are an invitation to be more dependent on Him.
‘The three days that exist between the crucifixion and the resurrection, they teach us what? That the presence of silence never equals the absence of God. The eight days that exist between Thomas screaming his doubt into the sky and God actually appearing to him teaches that God is in both the miraculous appearance and the eight days of silence.”
For those who are in one of these seasons, know that what the Lord has prepared for you is worth all the wait.
“The presence of silence never means the absence of God. And so the challenge of waiting is to actually allow faith to do its work. I trust that on the other side of this period of silence, I will have a richer, deeper, more alive faith than I did before.”
