Preachers and pastors have been warning believers about the dangers of listening to ungodly music. In addition to the obvious reasons, Pastor David Diga Hernandez delves deeper into why Christians should refrain from engaging with such music.
Stop Listening to Ungodly Music
As one famous quote says, “Music is the universal language of mankind.” Another saying goes, “Music is the language of the spirit.” Although not explicitly mentioned in the Bible, these principles hold true. This is Pastor David’s intended message: music has the ability to deeply impact the souls of its listeners, opening them up to influence.
He said, “Music can make your soul more easily influenced.”
However, the enemy was also aware of this fact. David explained, “The enemy can take the opportunity of you being more susceptible to deception and attack. And so, when someone is playing music, they are now putting you in a state where you’re more likely to be receptive to certain thoughts and certain suggestions.”
He then gave an example to prove his point further. “When you listen to, for example, a song about violence or a song about lust, you’re listening to ungodly communications.”
“You may say you’re just listening to the beat, but now your soul is receiving those messages in a greater state of vulnerability. And the words that are sung along with that music track are more influential than they would have been without the music.”
He added, “Well, no wonder many are walking around with anger, torment, lust, and confusion.”
David’s message cautions believers concerning their stance on secular music. One of the enemy’s tactics is to deceive Christians into feeling tolerant towards something that seems pleasurable. Some songs may temporarily satisfy, but can still harm the soul and one’s relationship with God.
