Spring is here and with it is the feeling of a new beginning. Have you ever felt like you can’t move on, because the past season has been traumatic? How do we enter a new season? Scripture has many examples of how God shifted things and brought people into something new. When we read the Bible, these stories give us wisdom on what it looks like to end a season and begin a new one. It’s time to close the door to the old season.
Shyju Mathew Asks, “Will Jesus Find Faith On The Earth?”
Revive Nations with Shyju Mathew has a passion to encourage the body of Christ to return to its first love, to empower leaders, and most importantly to see souls saved.
Shyju Matthew spoke a compelling message on keeping the fire burning. He said, “The world around you is constantly trying to diffuse your fire; your classroom, your teachers, your colleagues, the world, the streets. It’s normal; sin is waiting for you everywhere, enticing you, taking you away to kill your fire.”

God was calling Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt. We see over and over how the people complained and wished they could go back to slavery. They didn’t know how to close the door on the old season, because they didn’t trust God. Let’s learn from Scripture how to close the door to the old so we can enter the new and keep the fire burning.
Close The Door To The Old Season
Do you feel like you’ve gone around the same mountain enough times and God is calling you into something new? Transition can be exciting and scary! In Numbers 13, out of twelve spies, only two came back with good report. Sometimes it feels easier to just stay with what’s familiar, but God hasn’t called us to stay in fear.
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ (Romans 8:15).
As children, we are co-heirs with Christ. We have to know our identity so that we can step into the new thing God is doing. He is a good Father and He will let you choose. But, you’ve got to look at Him and not at the giants, so-to-speak.
Because of their disobedience, God told Israel that they would keep wandering in the dessert. A whole generation died in the wilderness when they could’ve trusted God and entered the Promised Land.
You can close the door to the old season by giving up your right to worry. God is trustworthy! If He’s calling you out of the old, He will provide for the new! The manna was available every day, but there was milk and honey waiting on the other side.

Application
Write down your dreams, even if they are too big for you to figure out how they could possibly happen. Then ask God what His dream is for you. Simply wait and listen. His dreams for you are HUGE! He created you because He loves you and there is a purpose for your life.
Begin to pray daily and find scriptures about His promises. Choose to believe that He is taking you from glory to glory. Decide in your heart that He is good and that you can trust Him. Seek Him first!
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Envision all of your worries at the feet of Jesus. Let Him take care of you. Confess if you’ve been worrying and then repent. He is faithful to forgive, and His mercies are new each day.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).
Prayer
Father, thank you for your steadfast love and faithfulness. I believe that you are good and you will lead me into the promises you have for me. Help me to dream big and to co-labor with you! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
