Christian vloger Ashley Hetherington shared her 10 practical tips on how to stop being a lukewarm Christian. She also shared verses as encouragement in each tip.
10 Practical Tips
1. Recommit your life to God.
Recommitting your life to God means acknowledging that His ways are better than yours, and believing that you are made new in Him.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV).
2. Hate sin.
“We are not to become friends with the things that Jesus died for or tolerate the things that Jesus died for,” Ashley said. “Our hearts are meant to be grieved by sin. … We must ask the Lord to open our eyes to see the destruction that sin brings.”
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” (Romans 6:1-2, NIV).
3. Don’t get into bed with temptation.
“If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell” (Matthew 5:29, NIV).
4. Be careful what you watch and listen to.
“I was wanting to do the things that I was watching on the screen subconsciously,” Ashley said. “It’s actually affecting us, what you input becomes what you output.”
5. Stop hanging out with lukewarm people.
“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33, NIV).

6. Get in community with people on fire for God.
“When He provides opportunities for you to step out in faith, He rewards you for getting around people who will bring out the best in you,” Ashley shared.
7. Get to know a real relationship with God.
“Have a real relationship with God and know God like you would know a best friend,” she said.
8. Read the Bible and let it renew your mind.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2, NIV).
9. Abide in Christ through obedience and prayer.
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (Romans 15:4-5, NIV).
10. Spend time with God every single day.
“You are going to spend time with Jesus every single day because that’s how you fall in love with someone, you spend time with them,” Ashley shared. “Falling in love with Jesus happens when He is your entire life.”
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13, NIV).
