One of the founders of Risen Nation Church, Pastor William Hinn, talked about the danger of idolizing ministry. He believed that God had called His children, and there were supplies that they could offer for the body of Christ. Then, he mentioned that God was not in heaven trying to figure out His children’s assignments here on earth. Instead, God already chose them for a purpose. “You didn’t just come to earth to get back to heaven. You came to earth on an assignment,” he shared.
After that, he explained how leaders tend to abuse someone’s calling. People married the calling and forgot that the call was about God. “We’ve just thrown the baby out with the bath water. And we’re against things like calling today. Like you never hear people talking about, like giving your life to fulfill the calling God has called you to,” he said. People struggle with assignment, duty, and purpose. For him, the purpose was loving Jesus, which meant producing a fruitful life.

Idolizing the Ministry
Furthermore, he gave an important message, especially to the young people. He told them, “Getting a job is not unspiritual.” Sadly, he noticed that people created an idol called ministry, and there was a killer called comparison. He discussed the covet problems that greatly affected the body of Christ. He noticed that people tend to demand other people’s lives and spend 60 years denying their supply to the body. This happened because they idolized the ministry and the church leadership.
Moreover, he shared, “Maybe God anointed you to be a computer engineer. And you’ve been fighting it your whole life. But God’s actually calling you to it, right? The only reason you’re not happy about that is because you’re more interested in what God can do through you rather than just God,” he emphasized. People tend to treat what God gave as their inheritance rather than treating God Himself as their prized possession.
Lastly, he stressed, “When your inheritance is loving Him and knowing Him, you’re not so much concerned about what you’re doing. You actually will find contentment, like Paul says. Contentment in the thing that is in front of you in your hand. And knowing that God is not making a mistake with you.”
