Joyce Meyer answered a question from a believer who asked, “How do you die to yourself?” She responded with great wisdom from a biblical perspective.
Joyce Meyer Answers Hard Question
During her interview, Joyce Meyer humorously mentioned that she wanted to write a book about the concept of “dying to self.” However, she believed it would not sell well because many Christians may find it difficult to understand. She emphasized that it was an important concept to learn because Jesus said that, “If you want to be My disciple, you must forget yourself, lose sight of yourself and all your own interests, and follow Me.”

Soon after, Joyce shared one of her experiences when God dealt with her fleshly character. Apparently, she used to hate submitting to a man because of her abusive past. Hence, Joyce had problems submitting to her husband when she married him. She didn’t know how submission worked and wasn’t interested either. But later, God provided opportunities for her to change one step at a time as soon as she prayed for change in her heart.
“God has to set set-up situations for us to go through, to learn from, and to practice on for our own good,” she remarked.
How To Die To Self
Joyce also stated some lines from the Bible in James 1:2-4 where Paul wrote, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Then, the author shared her advice on how to die to self.
“You tell God you want to, and then you just wait for the situations that He sets up,” she said. “And then when they come, you pray that God will help you do the right thing in each one of them. No matter how difficult it is.”
Joyce urged to starve the flesh and feed on the Spirit more than anything.
