In episode 28 of GOD TV’s Standing Together 2021, Fergus Scarfe and Ian Young welcome guest Danny Silk from Loving On Purpose Ministries, who shared eye-opening wisdom about relationships.
Danny Silk In Loving On Purpose
Danny Silk serves on the leadership team of Bethel Church in Redding, California, and Jesus Culture in Sacramento, California. Together with his wife, Sherry Silk, they founded Loving On Purpose Ministries. It is a ministry to families and communities worldwide.
In the interview, Danny shared where the passion for ministering to families and all kinds of relationships came from.
“It’s a lifelong journey,” he said. Then he opened up about coming from a broken family himself. Further, he revealed that both he and his wife “represent parents who have been married 15 times.”
“We know what it feels like to grow up around divorce, around blended families. And when we got saved and came into the hope of covenant relationships lasting a lifetime, we both decided we’ve got to figure this out. We want to give that as a legacy gift to our children,” the author explained.
Love Or Fear?
Also, Danny shared powerful truths about dealing with relationships in his “Keep Your Love On” series. He pointed out that in building a healthy relationship, “it primarily starts with understanding that I don’t ever control another human being.”
“Learn that you’re actually responsible for yourself. You’ve been a given a Spirit of love, power, and self-control, or a sound mind,” he pointed out. “So, you can get yourself to do what the Lord told you to do. You will never be controlling other people.”
Furthermore, Danny also highlighted the contest between love and fear in relationships.
“We have to settle in who will be our counselor right now,” he stressed. Then the author and preacher began to explain how we should choose to respond in the Spirit of love.
