Influencer Kathryn Nash shared profound wisdom in her social media post on “how to deal with offense.”
Offense
Offense is a significant issue for many people, particularly when their rights are violated, and they feel undervalued. In this world, everyone will have to face hate or criticism at some point, regardless of how good a person they are. Therefore, it is essential to know how to deal with unreasonable criticism from others.
Kathryn Nash, an influencer, recently shared her advice on how to handle hate. She suggested that those facing criticism should avoid taking it personally and instead try to see things from a broader perspective. It’s important to keep in mind that negative comments and opinions shouldn’t be internalized but rather viewed in the context of the bigger picture.Check Your Heart
Kathryn advised her listeners to check their hearts when they are offended by criticism. Then she stated Matthew 15:18, where Jesus said, “But what comes out of your mouth reveals the core of your heart. Words can pollute, not food.”
“What flows out of the mouth comes from the heart,” she remarked. “So, if someone’s criticizing you. If someone’s making fun of your appearance, if someone is being judgmental, critical, any of those negative things. Take a moment and realize what they’re projecting is coming from their own heart. That’s how they feel about themselves.”
Further, the influencer suggested taking a moment to pause when faced with criticism and asking oneself, “Is this criticism directed at me, or are they projecting their own issues onto me?” She also emphasized the importance of responding appropriately and taking responsibility.
“It’s our responsibility, not to put on this mask to control how people perceive us,” she explained. “But instead, work on our own heart to not get offended. When people criticize you, check your own heart why you are getting offended. And if get offended it’s because you believe them. So, it is your responsibility to love yourself enough, to know who you are, so that their opinions do not affect you.”
